Good stuff. It picks up from where research left off a few years ago with practical application on how deer actually see.

Having bought into a new pattern lately, of course, I now question my choice. Viewed from this, however, at least the lighter branched patterns seem to be close.

Of course, lots of hunters were successful in their day with a black and red plaid mackinaw coat and solid wool pants. It's been suggested it actually did the same - broke up the human appearance.
 
An article in the NY Times, of all places, said that the dot or fleck camoflage worked the best with most animals. It prevented their seeing objects that moved, which is when must animals are spooked.
 
I would like to see the same view experiments done with the clothing done in "hunter orange." That color is mandated in this state.
