”This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” ~Adolph Hitler, 1935, on The Weapons Act of Nazi Germany

”The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non ["something essential" lit. "without which not"] for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or police.”
~Adolph Hitler

”Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.”
~Heinrich Himmler

I have always loved the first one about registration. I have however seen many things on line stating that he never actually said it. does anyone know for sure?

To be historically accurate, even during the war German citizens could buy guns, there wasn't even a printed weapons permit, just a typed out permit; signed and stamped.
The Nazi gun policy was about controlling guns for undesirables and criminals, all Jews were forbidden guns because they were declared a hostile race as were others..
Himmler's comment was made because needed SS men, especially for the Police, and especially for occupied territories. The Stalinists did things the same way, guns for the loyal followers to kill the serfs who didn't obey.
