PLEASE let me be the first

I call this a PERFECT shooting, and ponder why there is ANY questions as to why he fired.

Disgusting about the second guessing of use of force ,when its OBVIOUS it was called for.

Idjit. BTW, Bowling Green is a pretty KY town. Neat little town square with very few pigeons. They have a vogelfanger (bird catcher) there on contract. The Corvette museum is nearby.

Back on topic, what did he expect?

Say hello to my little friend...

On a somewhat related note - Does anyone know where I can find a IWB holster for a AR?

"the subject did receive a non-life-threatening injury"

To receive an injury.

English is so beautiful. I learn something new every day. Thanks for it.

I have stewed on this for a while. The only thing that seems reasonable is if the guy pulled the rear takedown pin completely off letting the gun hinge then strapping in so that the hinge is in the area of the knee. Even if it proves to be an AR pistol, it's still a huge item to shoplift, and a very interesting way to carry a weapon concealed...which should be a charge in and of itself aside from the theft.

Yes, not an AR obviously. But reporting it as any other type of gun wouldn't be nearly as "sensational", now would it? Surprised they didn't say "assault rifle" or machine gun.

Yep, not an AR. Couldn't watch it or see pictures due to the filters at work...still wonder how somebody got a rifle in their pants and out of a store...obviously not successfully but still made an honest effort to shoplift.

Say, Elliot, is that an assault weapon in your pants...

or...

Wonder what he was dodging, the cost or the NICS?

The cop had the drop on him. He had time to wait and see if the person was actually going to try to use the gun against him. 'nother trigger happy cop punching a ticket to a free vacation! :banghead:

The lady in the video did actually say it was an assault rifle

Concealed carry isn't immoral. It's just taxed and restricted to satisfy those who won't defend themselves. We could go on about that but it's really not on topic.

If anything, it does kind of lend itself to a method of carry but I wouldn't bother. An AR pistol under a hip length parka in season would be easier.

What is interesting is that the Cabela's in question has no security to prevent simply lifting the gun out of the rack and then shoving it down his pants. I bet that comes under scrutiny at the store and corporate level. It's bad enough at gun shows, there's a pistol stolen off the table often enough.

One shallow thinker's selfish act will likely make it harder on the rest of us. We live in a society that won't adequately punish the guilty but inflicts restrictions on us. If there is no education to adequately deter a poor choice, then we suffer.

There's his defense, Eddie Eagle wasn't allowed into his school.

Wow man, heavy indictment of " ...'nother trigger happy cop... " on your part.

The way I read it:

Fella steals a firearm
Fella conceals a firearm
Fella is stopped by a LEO
LEO initiates investigatory apprehension
Suspect reaches towards firearm
Suspect gets shot!

Didn't have to end up this way;

Do what the cop says
Don't do what the Cop says to not do
Don't do things that the Cop did not say to do
NEVER reach towards a firearm unless instructed by the Cop
DON'T STEAL GUNS AND EXPECT SUPPORT FROM THE REASONABLE WORLD WHEN YOU GET SHOT DEVIATING FROM ANY OF THE ABOVE!

Not real sure why i even have to say this at all, let alone here, but I still think that our boys in blue deserve a little bit of appreciation for the job that they do, not condemnation for the job that some people force them to do. Media circuses aside, the many who put on a badge in the morning so that we all can go home at night do an overall good job. When things go awry, they still typically do a good job of fixing the issues.

On a side note, and this is strictly inference from the current social/political climate, you can nor trust anyone anymore to give you the stone cold truth. Everything is spun to make somebody look better or worse than they should. Call it human nature, call it media bias, call it a steamy pile in a cow pasture, but everything that you did not personally see has a bias...and what you see and tell others has YOUR bias. Even what you are seeing is biased as you likely want things to be a certain way. Nobody has the whole truth even if they think that they do, and using info with flaws breeds flawed reasoning, flawed judgement, and flawed info going one step further. By the time a story gets on the evening news it has been through the bias of the person who called the media, the reporter, the editor, then you. Please don't make judgements on those who serve us based on the worst data that can be found...which is portrayed as fact my msnbc, cbs, foxnews......

True enough so distilling it to what is certainly known:

Fella stole gun from store.
Fella got shot by cop.

Seems 'bout right to me. I doubt he was stealing it to subsistence hunt for his family's table.

I find the story somewhat un-believable. The Cabela's by me the rifles are behind the counter. Every time I have bought or looked at a firearm at Cabela's, I had to take a number and wait until someone behind the gun counter let me see the firearm.

The Cabela's in Phoenix has new guns behind the counter and used guns in racks where they can be handled and inspected without assistance. I've seen lots of ARs in those racks as well as all kinds of rifles, even bought a Bushmaster dissy from one of those racks.
