Some people may have seen this pic floating around and used in internet memes, and then jumping the gap to non-Internet media, including appearing on the Comedy Central program Tosh.0

I won't link the picture here for copyright reasons, and also because some people might prefer not to see it, but if you google-images "guy with guns" he's all over the first page of hits.

For those who haven't seen it, it's a rather plump, balding, hairy man in his skivvies sitting on a bed with a whole bunch of piece-of-junk guns like a TEC-22. This pic is widely used in internet running jokes, with captions like "Ladies, he's single!" or "EPIC FAIL", and shows up far, far outside the gun community.

Turns out the RG-10 .22 Short revolver in the picture is now up for auction, labeled "Micromancer's Rohm RG-10 - Own Internet History!" (click for link).

In his auction, he explains how his (in)famous picture, including this gun, has appeared: "on the Tosh.0 show on Comedy Central... failblog.com, ebaumsworld.com or collegehumor.com. ... Vice Magazine... a physical art display of internet culture in California... a pictoral feature in an October issue of Wired Magazine.. PlentyOfFish.com ... Cracked.com voted my picture Photo Of the Decade (2000-2010 I believe)." So apparently he's banking on internet celebrity to sell a pot-metal German pistol that's probably unsafe to fire and not worth $20 retail, oh, and you get an autographed copy of the famous picture to boot!

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry, and whether he's making fun of gunowners or just doesn't take himself too seriously. Also not sure if this is terrible trolling or just really savvy internet marketing; does he do actual celebrity stuff besides this, is he a "brand" now?

Just thought that since probably most people here under 40 have seen this pic, it's an interesting example of internet fame, popular perception of the gun culture, and how it spills over into the real world. Plus one really ugly guy, with guns.

He's actually an amusing guy, from what I understand. This is more of the same humor. ;)

As much as we all enjoy this site and our pastime, you have to at least smirk at that picture of him. I'm sure that we've all thought that "that guy" was at one time or another posting on this site. Have to be able to laugh at ourselves a little bit here. I thought the toilet shot was fantastic too.

Okay, reading up on it it does indeed appear this guy is a legitimate gun owner, but one with really odd taste. Both in art and in guns.

Is owning a TEC-22 one of those "ironically cool" things to do now?

I've got his auction watchlisted so I can see how much value internet celebrity adds to a $20 gun slightly modified from an inter-war German "alarm gun".

I suppose Im in the over 40 category who never heard of this guy/pics..

Lesson learned.. never google: guy with guns.

Meh. Damaged goods. Gun's missing the ejector rod and front sight. Mine has both, is hence worth 3X whatever he gets for it.

And I'll include an autographed pic of me, too... although, come to think of it, I'm damaged goods, too.

But still good-looking.

(Gotta appreciate his sensa yuma.)

I've seen those pictures over the years and I remember once joking that the poor guy probably shot himself out of humiliation. Now, seeing that he finds it all amusing I'd love to sit down and have a beer with him.

Heeey, I remember that guy. He spent a whole night posting pictures like this to SomethingAwful a couple years back. He's a meme now?

jtsuba02 is right.

I think he lives in his moms basement.
Spends all his money on ammo and pizza.
Stays up all night and plays games on the computer.
OH the single life, How I miss it.

I read the transcript of the interview and he actually seems like a pretty reasonable, down to earth guy. Funny too. I like what he says about people's perception of beauty. What a character.
