Finally got her home!. Takes quite a while over here until the paperwork gets approved, but today, I was eventually able to retrieve her from the armory were she had been stored.
The pistol came from "Iparguns", which is a smal business located in the north of Spain, who is carrying out repairs and spare parts sales for STAR, Astra and Llama pistols. The good news for whoever wants one, they're in stock, ready for shipment and yes, they send them abroad (guns and parts).
The pistol is not brand new. It's a police trade-in with very little use. As in the US, police trade-in are usually a good deal over here because they haven't seen that much use. Notwithstanding this, Mr. José Carrillo, Iparguns' manager and gunsmith, refurbishes them completely, so you purchase the closest to a "new" pistol.
First impression out of the box and racking the slide, the pistol is TIGHT. I shook her and no rattling sound whatsoever (we're talking an "old" pistol here). Field strip and again, it's tight. Load magazines and same thing. So far, looking good. Looks like Don José has done his homework.
Put a snap cap in and pulled the trigger. I had ordered a trigger job since the use of this gun will be mostly range (IPSC) use, and there it is. A double action shorter and with a more constant feel than my 92FS, and SA is just great. Short, clean, and crisp. I had almost forgotten how good the trigger on this pistol was. The barrel's feed ramp has been broadened -slightly- and polished and the mag safety is gone.
And here she is:
We're expecting some bad weather coming in tomorrow (close to midnight here right now), but I have the whole morning off and I'll be heading to the range. I don't care if its pouring and I have to shoot just at the metal pippers, but I'll be there . Promise to update the thread with my first range impressions.
Thanks for reading!
Edit: I tried downsizing the picture and uploading it again, but I'm having a weird Tinypic experience. Instead of the photo I'm trying to upload, it's uploading some sort of video game screen shot. I have to leave it like this for the moment. Sorry!.
