I always thought the grip frame on the Old Army was too small for a large gun so I replaced the frame on one of mine with a SBH grip frame.

I love these big, heavy guns. They are a hoot to shoot, too.

Welcome to THR

I see you got a brass frame on the last picture. Looks nice against the stainless

Dave, how about a close up on the Dragoon guard on your ROA. I have a brass Dragoon guard in my parts box, was saving it for a SBH but I may use it on my stainless ROA.

Thanks for the nice welcome

Here's the brass grip frame from an old model SBH. I paid more for the frame than I paid for the gun. I like the contrast in color (brass/SS).

AS you probably know, the original Old Army came with a brushed finish. The finish on this one was in bad shape. There were a number of scratches on the gun. I used 400 and 600 grit sand paper to clean it up so it now has a somewhat polished finish. I paid $260 for it 8 or 9 years ago.

I found the Holster at a gun store that was going out of business in the used holster box. Paid 10 bucks. ;)

Here are a couple of SBHs and a BH (.30 carb) that I changed the grip frames. On the last one I replaced most of the parts with SS. Nice contrast.

Ten bucks for the Ruger holster was a super deal. I have watched them go to near one hundred on evil bay. That brass on stainless looks good. I may have to redirect my Dragoon frame to the ROA.
