IOR scope thoughts

A fellow at my local range is selling an IOR 8X fixed scope, 56mm objective. Awesome glass with a nice reticle. I know nothing about these. The seller claims the same outfit makes periscopes for submarines. Also claims these are worth $1200+.

In any event, he wants $600 for it with QD rings. Thoughts?

I have 2 ior's, a 16x42, and a 6x24x56, good clear glass, great tracking, 16x has mp8 reticle, 6x24 has mp8 dot reticle. Both are on f class rifles.

The 16x I got used the 6x24 new.

The last scope bought was a 6x24x56 vortex viper pst though.

They have been making glass for a long time.

I have an M2 on an H&K 91. Great glass IMO. They used to be deals. IIRC their an oldscool European optics firm. I think it's well worth 6C.

IOR's are generally considered a good scopes. Like surveyor said they've been making glass for a long time.

A quick spin through SWFA makes it look like they don't make a fixed 8x right now, but they have a fixed 10X56 30mm tube for $830. Your buddies scope is lower power, and smaller tube.

Unless you like the reticle more then the new one or specifically want the lower power, I might think $600 is a tic steep. Kinda depends on the rings as well. $500 and I'd go for it. That's a good scope that should last well, but it's still a used optic.
