iowa state fair CCW

anybody have any idea if concealed carry is legal on the fairgrounds during the iowa state fair? i have never been able to find a straight answer to this.

what about keeping a firearm in your camper while you are staying there? would that be leal?

371-2.5 Public Safety—Weapons. (State Fair Grounds)

The carrying or possession by any person other than a peace officer of any weapon, such as a dirk, dagger, hunting knife, buck knife, switch blade, or any knife with a blade of three inches in length or longer, pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, pellet or BB gun, blackjack, billy club or any other weapon is prohibited on the fairgrounds unless authorized by the board. Failure to comply with this rule shall be cause for expulsion from the fairgrounds or being charged under Iowa Code chapter 724. Kitchen knives and others purchased at the fair must be wrapped and not concealed.

so one would first need to get approvel from the fair board.

does anyone have any idea how one would go about contacting them?

Don't know anything about them but I found a state gun owners organization.

You familiar with them? At least here in Texas my state organization has been helpful in trying to open those kinds of doors to carriers.

Fair grounds?

This is weird. For years I have been going to what I believe is the biggest gun show in the state on he fir grounds.

yeah, seems kind of strange that they regularly hold gun shows but as soon as fair rolls around you'd think it was illinois!

i tried to make small talk with a trooper once and the first thing he did was ask to see my ID, ok, whatever. next he asks if that is a pocket knife clipped in my pocket...."well yeah.." he then takes my knife, and tells me that they arent alowed on the fairgrounds and that i can pick it up at the ISP office on the fairgrounds later and not to carry one.

so i cant carry it now, but if i go get it later, then i can carry it out at THAT time?

seriously this is Iowa...were level full of farmers and county folks, you think that 95% of these people dont have knives?
