Looking for a quality (and of course, affordable) set of iron sights for a Ruger American 300 Blackout. I plan on having them professionally installed, so I don't need the NoDak sights. Nothing against them, I'm just looking for something a little more seamless looking...if that makes sense. Any suggestions on a manufacture? Thanks.

Next question is whether you want to have the option of both iron sights and scope mounting. That probably just leaves barrel-mounted open sights. Those generally have either screw-on bases, mounted on bands or dovetailed directly into the barrel. Dovetailing is mainly the option for untapered barrels, otherwise the front sight would have to be impractically tall.

If you do plan to use a scope, try to work out the position of the objective bell before picking where to install the rear sight

NEGC has great stuff (I have several of their peep sights), but they can be a little pricey, especially when you add gunsmith installation costs.

You could simply go with something from the Williams catalog ...

... but you might look through the Gun Parts Numrich website and look for discontinued bargains.

I use Skinner on my .500 S&W carbine, and all of my Henrys. I am having one made for my .500 S&W 7.5" BFR revolver too.

Thanks for the links! I'm not seeing anything specifically for the Ruger American, but this is a good start. Anyone ever try shotgun sights on the barrel? Something like this...

I don't think you will find anything which specifically says ' Ruger American' since they haven't been factory built with irons as far as I know (which may be uninformed). I've used similar sights on a mossberg shotgun for slug hunting. The dots show up really well in low light. The only downside to these would be making sure the base is thick enough for your smith to sand them down to match your barrel profile.

In reality since you are likely going have the barrel drilled and tapped for the install, there isn't much you couldn't choose. My preference would be look at other makes and models of rifles for sights you like, then have a pair grafted onto your rifle.

I asked this of Andy Larsson on Facebook. They have a Scout base for the short actions. For long actions, you can use the #860 rear sight. Then D&T for the front sight of your choice.
