Is a 327 worth my time

If you have to ask, probably answer is NO

Collecting guns is for fun. Well,... until it isn't. You'll know.

I have a hard time explaining "fun" to most people. You either get it without explanation, or you'll never get it.
Well, that's over-simplified. A lot of people didn't get into shooting or collecting until they were older. (as in older than 18 or 21)
They weren't into it, but they DID eventually "get it" and with no explanation needed. I would re-phrase it as "You're either 'The Type' or you're not."

About three years ago Federal did a run of 327 ammo with a rebate. Even then it seems like they only produce that round once or twice a year. Glad I bought 1,000 rounds for what amounted to $22 a box after the rebate. I still mainly shoot the 32 longs and magnums more often. Until there is a steady supply of ammo or reloading components, I would not advise buying into the 327.
How did you hear about the rebate?

Do you know of anyone who makes a coated, true .312 “Keith style” 115-120 gr swc? I have some LBT gas checked SWC but it has a bit of a rounded profile and not much of a swc shoulder compared to other bullet diameters on the shelf.

Stay safe.

Rio, I interpreted your reply to mean you’re looking for a wider meplat. I’ve looked extensively around the internet but haven’t found anything in your stated weight range (or outside of it) that would fit that requirement. AND I’ve also looked at mold makers offerings.

I’m also interested in a .313-.314 dia 125-130 grain wide meplat Keith style bullet for my .327 FM guns

If there was enough interest in a Ranch Dog style bullet mould on THR we could attempt exploring a group buy from NOE Molds.

I don't have a mold but I have plenty of .313 diameter 125 wide meplat Keith style bullets. Rimrock and GT Bullets both sell them. Rimrock supplies Buffalo Bore.

I haven't loaded the GT 125s yet. I just opened them and they are truncated cone style but the meplat looks pretty much the same size. My most loaded bullets have been Baddog Bullets 100 grain WFN coated. They shoot clean and no leading. Here's a picture of the Rimrock Keith on the left and GT on the right. upload_2022-10-25_1-47-27.jpeg

My friends, family, and I are having a ton of fun with the whole .32 family, so much so that a Henry in .327 is next on my list. Hunting down boxes of .32 s&w, .32 s&w long, .32 H&r magnum, and .327 federal magnum has been well worth it for me. Friends and family that I never thought would enjoy shooting have enjoyed the mild and accurate nature of this family of calibers. Many have also expressed interest in expanding their knowledge and raining so that they can carry.

.327 in particular has been an excellent introduction into more powerful calibers and stoked curiosity about what the more famous rounds shoot like.

oh and Buffalo Bore of course makes hard cast .327 federal magnum and .32 h&r magnum rounds, so depending on your views it may work as an outdoors caliber.

My Henry carbine is a hoot to shoot!

Are you shooting factory or hand loads out of yours? I have been stocking up on American Eagle 100 grain JHP for when I eventually get one. They are a bit much however for my 327 Taurus and I am hoping in the Henry they will be a very mild round.

Everything I have shot in the Henry is mild! Factory AE 100, 100 and 85 grain XTP reloads, 100 grain Bad Man coated, 115 and 125 semi-wadcutters and some other 115 hard cast GC bullets. I have to confess to not experimenting a lot on powders though. The only one I've been using is 2400 with amounts ranging from 9 grains to 12.5 grains depending on the bullets. I also bought 3 boxes of Federal Premium Hammer Down 127 grain to try in the carbine but haven't gotten around to it yet.
