I saw a Sig commander sized 1911, and wondered if with the external extractor if it was worth over $900.00? On Sale.
I never had one and was thinking about buying it, and have no experience with this type of gun, thanks in advance.
It's the compact nickel with night sights.

my experience with Kimber. I say a RIA a better deal

Sig is a good pistol I don't like the external extractor . But I'll take over the other brand

+1

I know the early Sig 1911s had their issues, but any of the later ones seem to be just what you would expect from Sig....boringly reliable.

Sig > Kimber

Is this a SIG P938 vs Kimber question? Or a SIG 1911 vs Kimber Solo?

Is a grip safety required? SA? Straight grip or round heel?

I'm throwing out some stuff because in compacts and smaller some features get left off, and the interpretation of "1911" gets fuzzy.

Be that as it may, you can get a dud from either. It would take longer to define and then test the two opponents, then purchase the winner than just buying the one you like and getting used to it.

The "which is best?" questions imply there's a clear cut answer and the alpha leaders on a forum will render their judgment in the next post. Well, if you search the internet, read the first few hundred web pages of 334,000, you'll get the idea nobody really much knows. It's a shifting target dependent on the quality of the line assembly workers at the time tested, vs who prefers what.

Most wind up picking the persona of the company they would like to have embellish their carry resume . . .

As for the extractor, you'll find guns that use both reliably.

Sig makes some great firearms. That's all I know. I have a P220 that just keeps on rocking year after year after year.

I think my compact Sig C3 is every bit as nice as my Kimber Custom II. I think for the money you may actually get a bit more with a Sig. Both are top notch though.

I suppose part of this question is meant to be subjective since prices dictate that the two companies are comparable. I don't care enough to do an apples to apples approach to the question, but generally, they are both somewhere in the 900-1200 range.

Subjectively, I say no. I have never been a particularly big Kimber fan, whereas the Sig 1911 I owned was a very nice pistol.

I love my Kimber, and the Sig 1911 I shot impressed me. (Shooting at 100 yards and hitting a steel plate two out of seven times.) If I was looking to buy a 1911 these days, I would look seriously at a Sig priced under 1K.
