I was awarded mine on November 3, 1963. Ultimately earned a bronze and silver palm, but never made gold. That's because I discovered girls! I remember shooting clays with .22 shot shells, believe it or not, and actually broke some!

Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow in 1989. I honestly don't recall if I had my marksmanship merit badge or not but I think not. My dad and I were the only gun folks and he was not about to take on teaching marksmanship to a bunch of punk kids (he still calls me that) by himself. I might have done it at a camp, but I only recall shooting once at a camp and it was something like 2 rounds out of a single shot 22.

Oh, the military thing is right. I went into the Army as an E2 because of it.

Nope, not an Eagle Scout, I was too busy doing the Rifle and Shotgun Merit Badges over and over for fun. I'm in Venturing now.

I am.

Troop 165, Cary, NC. February 14, 2001.

Got both rifle and shotgun merit badges. I've also been working at QBSA the past couple jamborees - if you go to the 2010 one, be sure to stop by and say hi.

Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow

Never got any palms though... I had plenty of time but, well, like o/u mike, my priorities shifted ;)

2005 Eagle with Bronze Palm and Brotherhood. I owe a lot to Boy Scouts because their the ones the got me into shooting and hunting. I learned all about gun safety and proper shooting technique from "Mr. K" at Camp Pupukea in Hawaii. I'm very thankful he put up with me and taught me what he did.

Made eagle in 1996 at age 14 and added a bronze and gold palm to it afterwards. I learned a lot of great things from the scouting program and thanks to them I got to shoot my first rifle, bb gun, and black power musket. The scouts taught me to always be prepared and it has saved my hide many times.

Got my Eagle in 2004, I'm pretty sure.

Best part about the Scouts? Summer camp. :)

My camp (Camp Geiger in St. Joseph, Missouri) had a honor-based Scouting program, Mic-O-Say, that combined the tenets of Scouting with the experiences of an early Scouter, H. Roe Bartle and his adopted Indian Tribe. It was a great program, and a great experience.

Congrats! April 2, 1996 for me.

My Father/Scoutmaster called Scouting, "character building disguised as having fun."

i am. i got mine in the late 80's. i loved scouting until i turned 15. for the past 9 years, ive been an assistant scoutmaster in various locations.

i really enjoy teaching scouts responsibility and life skills. i also enjoy the fun merit badges. a long time ago, many adults spent a fair amount of time keeping me on track, and i feel its my duty to give back.

I never did scouts. My buddy got his eagle scout back in 94ish. I was with him and it was a cool to see.

On a side note since eagle scouts was brought up.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — More than a half-century after he finished the requirements to earn the rank, an 88-year-old man was honored as an Eagle Scout on Saturday, making him possibly the oldest person to ever collect the honor.

i wish- made it to Star with a ton of merit badges, but didn't complete Life.
helped out on a few Life and Eagle Scout projects though.

Big Salute to you guys who made it all the way!!

Eagle Scout here, made it in 2000. Got the rifle and shotgun shooting merit badges, along with 40 some odd other ones. Being in Boy Scouts was a great experience gowing up that I'm really glad my dad got me into. If I ever have boys, I'll definitely get them into it as well.

I was a Life Scout, Brotherhood in OA, but, I moved around alot (Dad did over 25 years in the Army). My troops were all on military bases. Caused some problems when leadership folks were sent off to far distant places. Regardless, I finished my Eagle project, just turned 18 before it was done. Not really anyone's fault, just the nature of the beast.

Congratualtions to you.

Scout from Nov 1961 to May 1967.
First firearm training was Troop Scout outing to Camp Robinson Ark, firing M-1, ~1964.
Eagle Board of Review Jan '67.
Younger brother (11 months younger) Eagle Board of Review Feb '67.
Court of Honor Mar '67 - we were awarded them together. Dad could not have been prouder!
Adult Scouter 1985 - 1996. District Training Chair, troop Committee Chair, Scoutmaster. This was my payback to the adults who made sure we had a program as a kid. 2 for 1 payback seemed fair.
Pass the good turn forward - if you were a Scout, do something to help Scouting now.

Craig

I have been an Eagle Scout for 40 years. I am the District Advancement Chairman and get to attend about 22 Eagle Board of Reviews a year. It is a priviledge to get the opportunity to help the BEST in Scouting achieve the highest advancement.
