I know that a lot of the ammo situation is regional but I can't find target 380 anywhere. I picked up a box from an LGS yesterday that was higher than I want to pay but I am seriously low on range ammo. Even my local reloader doesn't have any. I have shopped online for it but I don't want to buy any of the "re-manufactured" ammo from an online retailer if I can avoid it and $.40 per round delivered is more than I want to pay. I found some Magtech from Sportsman's Guide for $.36 delivered and I may buy that to keep me shooting.

Other than 380 and 22 I am seeing plenty of handgun ammo in big box retailers and LGS.

I still see 380 on occasion at Walmart. Mainly Wolf. See plenty at the shows, GA arms table always has some. Don't recall the exact price but believe it was $19/50.

I live in PA and I don't really have a problem finding it. Wally World still has it and all of my LGS's still have it at about "normal" prices.

I rarely see it here too. A friend just bought a 380 and the only box he found was a box of 20 Winchester JHP's at Walmart or $20. He asked me to keep an eye out. I know of one local gun shop that has a few boxes that I saw the other day. Walmart gets it ocasionally and I found some 2 weeks ago there and grabbed him a box. However, it doesn't last long when it comes in stock.

No problem finding .380 at Walmart and my LGS. Prices are a tad bit higher than before but nothing like the time it was going for $1+ a round.

Just bought a 380 last week, so I have only recently been paying close attention to the ammo, but is easy to get around here right now.

My LGS has four kinds of FMJ, and several types of JHP. Walmart had the 100rd WWB "value pack" of flat nosed FMJ.
I recently bought a used Beretta 84F, so I have been checking.

It's terrible around here (St. Louis). I have yet to find a box of FMJs after purchasing a .380 six or seven months ago. Every now and then, I see a box of HPs around, but at $1 per round, I'm not buying those to use at the range.

I do reload, but I shoot .380 in such low numbers that switching over to it is kind of a pain. Plus, I am not sure if I'm going to stick with my LCP yet.

"...seeing much .380 ammo"?
Gunbot has it.
There must be search engines other than Ammoseek which also list many sellers. Right now all sellers on Gunbot list .380 acp as "available".
I see it there quite often.

So what exactly is the problem?

So what exactly is the problem?

As the OP said the issue is availability of FMJ 380 on a local level. Even online sellers are not showing much 380. Plenty of re-manufactured (love the terminology) but I don't want to buy reloads online. Most of what is showing as "available" is HP at $1 or more per round or reloads.

The lowest on Wikiarms right now is Silver Bear for $.58 per round or Blazer for $.61 and that is if you buy 1,000 rounds.
The lowest on Ammoseek is $.53 delivered but they only show 3 boxes on hand so it's probably not in stock.
I looked at the three lowest priced places on Gunbot that showed it as "in stock" and none of them actually have it in stock. The one I did see in stock was something called "hyperclean" from a place called 3rd generation. No picture of the ammo and I have never used the company.

A set of 380 dies is about $30. I have powder and primers so bullets and dies and I will try my hand at reloading a new caliber.

.380

Today, at Bass Pro in Cucamonga(that's in Kali.) they had .380 for $94 for 250 rds. I forget the brand. They even had some .22 but you could only get 2 boxes of 50.

I concur with medalguy above.

I have this funny red device at home. It has this lever, and you pull it up and down a bunch of times and guess what?? A box of 380 pops out!

It is also able to perform the same magic for 9mm or 38special, or .223.

Beside it sits a slightly less rounded similar device that also has that lever thingey. It seems to be slightly slower, but it can produce a box of 7mm08, .308 or even 7.62x54R -- and it also knows how to make Rem6.8SPC show up!

Amazing. I don't need to drive to Wallyworld any more. I can make more accurate ammo and even cheaper prices without even getting into my car. And I learned things about accuracy and kinetic energy and what not that I would never have learned otherwise.
