Is cap and ball a muzzleloader?

My answer would be since Florida apparently in their hunting regulation
don't define ANY legal firearm for the taking of any game you would typically shoot with a firearm, Contact them direct and ask them.

but Florida's law states this:
FAC 68A 1.004

(45) Muzzleloading gun – A firearm that cannot be loaded from the breech and is fired by wheel lock, flintlock, percussion cap, or centerfire primer.

but based on this, then yes you can.
But based on what you intend to hunt the question would then be
would it be wise, prudent and appropriate.
And is it legal for that game species.

Also some muzzleloaders are not included as legal, such as the CVA Electra.

Under that definition of a muzzle loading gun I would think a Colt Thuer Cartridge Conversion would qualify, not that anyone is likely to use one. But as far as I am concerned all of the new inlines are nothing more than a way around regulations allowing one to hunt in primitive seasons with a modified cartridge single shot break action rifle. Fire retardant suit activated. :uhoh:

I agree. I dislike them because they're just way to modern, but a lot of people like them, so.....

grizzly

We have an anecdote here in Wyoming about difference between black bear and Grizzly.
Go kick a B.B. in the butt and climb a tree.
it will climb the tree and kill you.

Go kick a G. B. in the butt and climb a tree.

It will just tear the tree down and then kill you.

There is a lot of difference in the verocity and stamina of a Grizzly vs a Deer or a black bear and such.
No way would I use a BP C&B deliberately on a Griz.

Seems like the repeater feature of the cap and ball would be what would define its legality during muzzle loading season.

I love my BP revolvers and I even load Kaido 240s in the ROAs but....... I don't think I'd deliberately use one of my 44 magnums on a griz. Maybe my 460 XVR from a distance that would allow follow-up shots. Some BP shooters need to just think a bit more on what they're doing.
