Is Gander Mountain worth the drive?

Gander Moutian is about 12 miles away and pro bass about 50.
I have had bad luck with Gander and customer service has been something to be desired. I would drive the extra miles to spend my money.

I sometimes drive the hour it takes to go to a shop in Richmond, (Greentop), just for the heck of it. If you have nothing better to do, by all means visit the GM, but I wouldn't go just to see what they're like.

Same here, I like GreenTop alot, I bought my XD there a couple years ago and both my shotguns came from there as well. The new GM is less than a mile away. I stopped by there just to check out the new store, I wasnt impressed and quickly left.
Im from the South side of Richmond. With fuel prices lately Ive been doing my shoppin at Dances in Col Heights, they are an hour closer than driving to Ashland.

Greentop is awesome! I went there last weekend, along with the Gander nearby. Greentop's selection is oustanding, the guys there seemed to be really nice, and the store was packed with gunnies of all ages and backgrounds. Prices seemed reasonable too. If I were living in the Richmond are permanently, I'd have no problem buying from them.

The GM store was very picked over in terms of selection, particularly on the rifle end. A few basic trim levels from each major manufacturer in a few calibers, nothing high-end or unique, and all quite expensive. Lastly, the place was nearly deserted compared to Greentop. My local GM back in Roanoke is much better-stocked, but then again they just opened a few months ago.

A big Bass Pro Shops is being built not too far from the GM in Ashland. I wonder how that's going to affect GM's business....
