I saw where Dean is giving a speech in south FL, and calls Iraqi PM "an anti Semite." Now I understand Dean's trying to pander to Jewish doners by highlighting al Maliki's refusal to condemn Hezbolla, but doesn't he know that Arabs are Semites? So al Maliki is a self-hater? How'd this idiot ever get through med school?
 
Anti semitism is generally defined as "hostility or predjudice against Jews as a religious, ethnic or racial group".

Dean just likes to see his name in the news.

While I agree that the Iraqi PM is an anti-Semite (defined as hating those of Jewish descent and religion), too many things he says are simply outrageous. He's either completely out of his gourd or he just likes grabbing headlines.

It seems the world is full of people who will say or do anything just to see their names in print.
 
Howard Dean is a creepy little man. I just assume that whatever he's saying is wrong and leave it at that. Nothing he does can surprise/upset/amaze me.
 
Why get worked up about it?

I don't get upset when my dog has to lift his leg to every plant in sight, that is his nature. Dean is a politician, he can't control his nature. I'm just happy whenever I see evidence of a politician doing something for the greater good and I leave it at that.:p
 
I (obviously) agree with all posters. Websters does define anti-Semitic as prejudice against Jews. However, the definition of anti-Semite, I believe, is written to apply to the majority of English speaking people - i.e., those not of Semitic descent. It is silly to accuse an Arab of being anti-Semitic, because they (just like Jews) are Semites. Why not just say he's a Jew hater? I expect Dean couldn't bring himself to come right out with it. He's a despicable little fellow.
 
Dean is doing his best to appeal to the far left part of his party. he really does not have much choice. If they desert to the Greens or Communists or Socialists, or whatever far left group they end up in, the Democratic Party as a national institution will be pretty much toast.

But he also has to appeal to the money in his party and a lot of that is Jewish.

Ironically, much of the far left is extremely anti-Jewish.
