Is it safe to paint Shotgun Shells

Out of curiosity, is it safe to spray paint or brush paint the metal and or palstic parts of shells? Like if you wanted it to be all black and not shiny? ....Or international orange for bush pilots

It could melt off after the barrel/chamber begins to heat up leaving a mess or extraction issues. Worse case scenario somehow it causes pressure excess and kaboom.

I would not recommend it.

As noted paint will flake off, and / or stick in the chamber.

If you want to color the heads, use various colors of Magic Marker.

The color will be visible, but the thin ink will not cause any problems inside the gun.
