Milt Sparks - Versa Max 2

They're taking orders now for NOV delivery. I'm in the market for an IWB holster for my SIG P220. Currently use a Don Hume - works but isn't terribly comfortable and with just one clip tends to wobble around on my belt.

I've heard good things about the VM2. Is it worth the wait and if so WHY?

Please - comments only from those who have and use one or have had and have used one.

Thanks

...

Hey my friend, long time.. :)

Just thought I'd let ya know, due to the arthritis in my hands, I had to take-off my beautiful, dark, coco bolo, textured wood grips for my P220 American, and put on a softer, Hogue fingered grip and these beautiful wood grips need a home..

PM me if yer interested..

My best,

Ls

PS.. have pics of them on gun if ya would like a look..

PSS.. Nix, NO_GO on the Beretta Px4 45 as they, along with my (many) 40cal, have a "trigger sting" issue.. not good, fyi

Sorry, now back to the OP real needs..

I've got two and will be waiting on a third shortly. I'd say "yes" but I haven't checked out alternatives.

I guess holster buyers have been spoiled by instant gratification. Bought a Randall recently?
Randall FAQ said:
Are your knives available for immediate shipment?

Unfortunately, we do not have knives available from stock. Demand is generally so great for all models that we normally have a backlog of many months. Currently, we are scheduling knife deliveries for first quarter 2013. Randall order limit is one knife every three months per household. Effective November 1, 2007, the limit on extra features that may be ordered on a knife has been set to five chargeable features.
Cry me a river.

Yes, for me anyway, it is worth the wait. I currently own 2, have sold one for a gun I don't have any more, and have 2 more on order (hopefully to be delivered in August). As for the why; they are the most comfortable IWB I have tried, they do an excellent job at concealment and are of very good quality.

I switched carry guns in January and bought a Comp-Tac MTAC to hold me over while waiting for a VM2. It's a decent holster but I am anxiously awaiting the VM2. I have seen a lot of praise for the MTAC on various forums and it is a decent holster. In my opinion not in the same league as the Sparks VM2 so that should tell you something.

It's a hundred bucks, I say just order it, you won't be unhappy.
(the long you wait, the longer you wait)

I have a Milt Sparks holster, but I don't know if it's the same model you're asking about or not - doubt it. Anyway, I hear versions of this question all the time about different things, such as the El Paso Saddlery holsters I happen to like the most.

November is coming whether you buy the holster or not. The Sparks company has been around a long time, so it's no flash in the pan, i.e., the latest and greatest. It's a solid, quality product that has earned a good reputation. You will enjoy having it a lot longer than you will spend waiting for it. And, it'll seem like an early Christmas when it comes! What's not to like?

And, a shout out for EPS:

OK...

Randall must make a knife deserving of ownership by the GODS for folks to wait all the way until 2013 (especially since the world is scheduled to end in 2012 ;) )

I actually thought that very thing. :)

Milt Sparks - I have the Axiom, "FBI Cant OWB - excellent design,
quality of materials, and craftsmanship creating their goods.
I also highly recommend the #IPS - the IWB single mag carrier.
I'm glad I got the 1 1/2" gun belt as well.

It's worth the wait

I have several custom holsters and for quality, fit and reliability, the VM2 is head & shoulders above the others. I can tell you all day how good they are and how well they work carrying your CCW, but you really must experience the holster to really truly understand. Here's mine carrying a 4" Wilson Combat Professional 1911.

Yes.

I bought a VM2 for my G36 and now have them make holsters for all my pistols... the trick is to place an order as soon as you think you might need it.

Milt Sparks died quite a while back. Tony Kanally (not sure of the spelling) who worked for Milt bought the business from the estate. Tony is a perfectionist. If he claims it, it does it.

I've got a number of Milt Sparks holsters and they are among the best I've ever owned.

My current maker is on the same level, but since I don't live close to Boise anymore I go through him. I like to sit down with my leather guy and show him what I want.

Unless you have someone who is beyond excellent, I'd wait for Tony's product. Milt Sparks is simply the best at what they do.

You can get VM2's from places other than MS directly. Do a search for Lightning Arms or Alan Yoast. I was just talking with Mr. Yoast this morning about a Vm2 for a 4" 1911 and he DOES have some VM2's.

Lightning Arms tends to get them on a semi regular basis.

MY VM2 in horse/shark should be here in June/July (ordered late January).

Werewolf,

The answer to your question is "Yes."

I have three VM-II's; a 3" and a 5" 1911 model and a S&W Sigma model, which also does a fantastic job for the 1006 and 1086 pistols.

Couple the VM-II with a dedicated double-thickness gunbelt (mine happens to be a Sparks 1-3/4" belt), and you won't believe how comfortable (and secure) carrying any pistol short of a Desert Eagle can be.

I have a VM2 that Tony K built -- it is the finest holster I own. It is also the most comfortable IWB holster I have. If you order one, don't get the cordovan.

FWIW,

Paul

I own two VMIIs, IMHO it's worth it.

The most comfortable holsters I own, no problems with weapon retention, and the outboard loops spread the guns weight well.

Not just yes, but HELL YES! I own many MS products and you should really consider ordering a belt from them as well while you are at it. By the time they arrive you can have saved the money to pay for it.

I own 2 so far and a few mag carriers and belt. Mine is done in Horsehide and sharkskin. They guns still "snap" into the leather years later.

Yes.... I have one for my G23, although its not a VMII, more comfy if you ask me. I have two more on order, that should arrive in June-July:)

When the holster was new, the cordovan rubbed off on my clothes. There is probably a way prevent this.
