I took my ppk back to the range today and put about 100 rounds of winchecter white box ammo thorught it no failures of any kind. The only thing is that the mag with the finger rest kicked itself out again twice this is after I installed a new mag catch spring. the flush fitting mag never did this to begin with with the old magcatch or the new one. So do you guys think its the mag itself or maybe the finger rest is slightly thicker than it needs to be and won't allow that mag to seat properly? I'am guessing a bad mag catch that was worn out would kick any mag out of the gun right? At any rate I'a, gonna call walther monday and have them send me a flat mag bottom for the other mag and see what happens with it any suggestions in the mean time would be great thanks.

The key here is: "this is after I installed a new mag catch spring".

Something is off, and it's probably related to the new spring.

Try this:
Switch the magazine bottoms. Put the flat one on the finger rest mag, and the finger rest bottom on the flat bottom mag.

Also, check the new spring for diameter and tension. Is it sticking slightly in the mag catch? Too weak?.

Check the fit of the magazines against the bottom of the grip frame.
Is the magazine with the finger rest hitting the bottom of the frame before the mag catch fully engages?
Is it so tightly bottomed against the frame, there's tension on it?

Put the mag in the gun and give it a firm pull. Will it pop out?

Is it YOU? Some people have problems with their thumb activating the mag catch under recoil.
Is there something about the finger rest mag that could be causing your grip to shift enough to accidentally bump the mag catch?

dfaris This one mag was kicking itself out before this thats why I changed out the mag catch spring to begin with. As for putting it in right it only appears to go in one way so not much chance of it being that. I'am going do what you said and swap mag base plate around maybe it is my grip as I do hold the gun slightly differant when the extended mag is in. I don't recall feeling my thumb hit the mag catch though during firing. Then again when i'am careful about how I grip the gun it dosen't kick the mag out come to think of it.
