Indeed it is! But not until a month ago. After 34 years at a large communications company, I got laid off in December. It has gotten worse by the year, and I was at the point I had to get out of there anyhow. Now I make about 1/4 of what I was making, but there's really good news: I can carry at work every day now. Woo hoo! It's a small business that employs about 10 people in a metal shop, and about 8 in the office. I'm in the shop, working under no stress at all. The employee handbook makes no mention whatsoever about weapons of any kind.

I sure am poor now, but never happier.

Economics no, weather (cold) yes.

I hope everyone who needs a job can find one........good luck!

Economy? No. Actually, I'm doing better than I was a couple of years ago (better than I deserve ;) ).

Cold weather, and a major time crunch from work + family medical issues most certainly has. Difficulty in finding ammo and primers doesn't help either.

I have been dry firing more frequently as a result.

Availability of components was what deterred me. Now that I can find primers locally and reasonably my time at the range will increase.

Yes,I'm ''cut back'' to three days a week at work now, so I make it out to shoot about twice as much, and I have more incentive/time off to reload...

nope... the weather on the other hand... that is limiting my range time... I have several guns that NEED to be shot.

I'm almost exclusively shooting 22lr/mag so I actually go more now.
Fun factor is surprisingly still pretty high;):)

No, I shoot as much or more than ever. (home range)

I've been reloading since 1961 and always bought reloading components and ammo in bulk and on sale.

I saw this coming a few years ago and stocked up on a lot of reloading components before the price went up.
Matter of fact a friend and I were at a gun show trying to decide if we should buy a lot of bullets, or a whole lot of bullets.
My friend said, "If you don't like the price today, you are really going to hate it next year".
We bought the seller out.

Yeah a trip to the range costs me from 50 to 75 bucks
This would sure take the fun out of my shooting.

.... no, personal time is getting harder and harder to find. But when I do get there, it's much more "quality" time than before.

I voted no but after thinking about it, the economy has impacted my range time. Not because I can't afford to shoot but because I feel like I need to put in more hours working to be sure my job is reasonable secure. That's what I'm doing most of the day today, teaching myself to use some new software development libraries and writing some code for work.

The weather around here hasn't helped much either. I was planning to go this morning but woke up to rain.

no, has not hurt my range time, but I shoot a lot more rimfire and a lot less centerfire

as luck would have it, local semi-private range is only ~12 minutes from my front door, annual dues only $25 (and that covers spouse as well)
good news - I own a bunch of rimfire guns, including "practice companions" same frame, weight, style, length guns in multiple caliber, rimfire and centerfire :)

I shoot maybe 300-350 rounds a trip on average, once a week
but (alas), only about 50 rounds a month of centerfire :(

YES! Mostly because of the economy and the president people have been buying up all the ammo. I don't have a stock pile laying around, and the shelves are always empty. So I want to hold on to what I have.

I'm spending as much time as possible, but working on my shooting skills a little more. I can't afford to go through boxes of ammo like I once did. It's more about accuracy than leasure time. I'm trying to learn to make every shot count and correct what doesn't work for a one eyed old man. Making adjustments I guess you could say.

It is very interesting almosy twice as many people voted yes then no, but most of the people who are chiming in are saying no.

Hang in there eveyone who is struggling like me. Times will get better!

I got laid off last January so it has made it possible to go out once and sometimes twice a week. I'd actually go more often but it costs 7-8 bucks in gas each time. Fortunately I stocked up on supplies after Clinton.
