So I found some old derrigner style grips that I'd like to put on my Night Cobra but i am not sure if it's even the same grip frame.
What grip frame is the new Colt cobra? Is the same as any former Colt model

This from altamonts grips. Colt brought back the Cobra double-action revolver in 2017 with a redesigned almost entirely stainless steel frame.

The grips listed on this page will ONLY fit the 2017 Colt Cobra. The Colt Cobra 2017 frame and the older Colt D frames and Colt King Cobra (V) frames are not interchangeable.

Okay. So where do I find a seleciton of grips to buy for the 2017 frame?

Looks like someone dropped it on the triggerguard, looks bent.

Que the apologists with “but it was done to make the trigger guard larger!!” As if anyone ever needed the guard larger on a Cobra in the first place. It looks stupid.
By all accounts its a good, reliable carry revolver, but between the sandblasted finish, goofy barrel shroud, and gigantic trigger, it does look, well- wrong.

Even the new Python is almost ruined by the strangly shaped and proportioned trigger, IMO.

As to the OPs question, no, there are no interchangeable parts between the new and vintage Cobras, grips included.

Pachmayr's for the post 77 d frame fit the new Cobra (all models). You need to have the frame alignment pin to stabilize the grip. I have Pachmayr's on my New Cobra and my New King Cobra, and they also fit my Diamondbacks.

It’s not an “error in judgement”. It’s my opinion. Obviously you are free to dismiss it but you’ve little right to claim it an “error”?
No but it is off topic. If you want to rant, start your own thread.

The pre-66 Colts were different as well. When you go looking for Colt grips be sure to check for grip length. Post-77 is an abbreviated grip frame. The SF -VI, DS-II, and post-66 are mostly interchangeable but the new larger D+Frame Cobra is not a direct fit. Hogue and Altamont are very good - unless you want custom

I love my “New Cobra,” it’s my favorite snub .38 in the safe.

I get that they might not put water under everyone’s keel, nothing wrong with that. But IMHO, I think Colt hit a home run with this reissued classic.

Stay safe.

They really did hit a home run and I'm so glad they're making revolvers again. That's not to say some of them don't have their glitches.
When I first was shooting mine, I had two cylinders full that wouldn't fire until I put it down for a few minutes. Don't know if it's a problem with too hard primers, or too new a mainspring. My father told me he had the same issue with his S&W model 500 when it was brand new.
I haven't had the problem since.

I agree, particularly about the finish. It's too dull to be called shiny, and too shiny to be matte. I resolved that issue by getting the Night Cobra.
I really like the feel of it in my hand, and it shoots well.
