A friend took me touring gunshops in the Ogden Utah area today, we hit 4. Not so much for used guns in any of them, one hock shop had some but I came out with my money intact.
One gunshop we hit was a "black rifle" store, must have had 250 or more black rifles of all descriptions on the walls with a like number of semiauto handguns. PALLETS and CASES of ammo on the floor and shelves full, anything you might want, it looked like. Lots and lots of .22 rimfire, most brands including some good target grade stuff, prices seemed pretty much in line. Other shops seemed very well stocked with reloading supplies, although one shop still wanted $40.00 a brick for primers

Looks like maybe the hoarders and the "sky is falling" crowd finally got their fill

At least there, my local shop has two 1000 count boxes of Federal Shotgun primers, everything else is gone. WlaMart is still slowly stocking up here, but getting there...

It only takes a single post like this on THR to send folks scurrying to Ogden, Utah, to clean out the shelves and take advantage of all the good deals -- or at least to just clean out the shelves. Had you reported that the stores you visited all had .380 ammo in stock, the rush really would have been on.:)

Yeah prices have fallen. I just got a quote for $360 on a 900 round case of Federal XM193 on stripper clips. Last year it would have been $500+.

Naturaly the gun stores deny this, but the proof is in the pricing. Just look at everything sitting on Gunbroker with zero bids. No ones buying unless its a deal.

Ammunition availability is improving, but it is still not what it was a few years ago. Most unnerving, places like Bass Pro still have almost completely empty shelves. If Wal-Mart can get it in, why can't Bass Pro?

I'll be convinced that it's over when I can walk into a store and buy a box of .380 ACP or 10mm without calling ahead first.

Anti American politicians have been trying to sell us out to the UN for years. If the dems show any sign of maintaining the house and senate come November, it will get bad again. Not as bad though. Many folks are bought out.

We are in a definite window of oppotunity. I just hope it opens up completely, and stays open. There will always be another primer shortage/run on guns someday.

I have been noticing more ammo available at the local shops myself. I used to have a lot of problems finding decently priced ammo for my G17 but Wally has double-stacks of the WWB on hand by the 10s now
