is there a gun you wouldn't want?

The intent of the Second Amendment is defense of personal integrity and national security.

Uzi pretty much fills those bills.

A broken, unrepairable one

I have one of those also. My Dad left me 2 guns, a 1860's Sharps derringer and a no-name .38 that's in parts. It's a POS but sits in parts in the safe. Never have known what to do with it!

Is there a gun I wouldn't want?

Anything with Ruger in it's name.

I've got two - bought 'em NIB at the same time for Cowboy Action Shooting. A couple of old style Vaqueros, caliber 45 Colt. I won't go so far as to call 'em junk but I won't ever be buying another Ruger - ever.

I'd have to say anything blackpowder. Not really my thing. Also, anything in the safari-type calibers and up .300WinMag, 7mm08, 50BMG I'm not huge on recoil. I like my shoulder in my socket, and I honestly have no use for them personally.

But I do like pics of them.

Agree with the safari-type stuff, .300winmag, and 50BMG...7mm08 is an excellent deer and antelope caliber...blackpowder is always a challenge in my book...You can keep Ruger Mark 22s, Taurus, Rossi, and AMT...

I would take anything that was legal and given to me for free (except a tec 9), If I dont like it Ill sell it later.

1950's era MAB Model D in 32 auto. Paid $75 to help out a relative down on her luck. Ran a few hundred rounds through it, later gave it away for free. Never looked back. Hunk o'junk.

I wouldn't want any of the junk guns mentioned, Jennings, Raven, Jimenez and I'll even throw Taurus out there, I've heard so many accounts of horrible quality control, parts breaking and bad customer service I wouldn't want to have to deal with them... As for hi-points, my buddy bought one in 9mm for $25 at a yard sale, needless to say after a day at the range, I see why... I think the guy that sold it to him would have paid him $25 to take the POS. He could barely hit the silhouette target with it at 15 yards.

Pretty much any gun that wasn't broken beyond repair or illegal (used in a crime). By the way, one of my guns is a Hi-Point and so far it has far exceeded my expectations.

Heritage Stealth (a.k.a. Wilson ADP) The safety doesn't work, it just makes the trigger pull harder. The striker doesn't go to the partial cock position early enough, which means that when a new round is trying to chamber the rim hits the protruding striker and stops the whole process right there. I don't know if it's accurate or not as I never got to shoot the thing since it would never chamber a round. And other than the trigger block safety, there is no other safety. If it got dropped hard enough to release the striker it's going off, there is absolutely no striker block anywhere in there. If it would chamber I'd consider it about as safe as a Glock with all of the internal safeties removed.

I generally wouldn't want a gun I couldn't fix or get spare parts for, because guns are for shooting, not idolizing. It's tough shooting something that requires extraordinary effort to be able to repair; sort of like driving an antique car. Maybe if I were wealthier my bandwidth would expand.

I've fixed guns that others swore were junk and were willing to part with cheaply. Simple polishing, adjusting of spring tension, or just a thorough cleaning sometimes does it. Sometimes just breaking a gun in with hundreds of rounds fixes it. Sometimes the problem isn't the gun. Sometimes it is the shooter limp-wristing a semi-auto handgun. One shooter will find a gun unreliable, that another shooter will have no problems with.

There's a name for somebody else having and liking a gun you wouldn't have: freedom.

Yes, but I am not going to name any here as they all have been named. I don't expect anyone to give me one since only my wife or sons would give me a gun and they know what a gun snob I am so no worry about that.

A starters pistol.... Tuff to shoot anything....

Most broken ones would be a no go!!!

I'll take any legal gun someone is willing to give me.

+1 on the gold plating though, I'm not a pimp.

Matter of fact, I acquired a Escort Aimgaurd pump shotgun the other day for free. Guy bought it and didn't get the ATF import paperwork back before he was leaving. It's not a remmie but it is still a free, albeit cheesy tactical, shotgun.

As a side note, Does anybody know where I can find stocks that will fit the Escort? It's got a cheesy top folding stock that I know will hurt to shoot with. I have heard that FP6 accessories will fit it, but those are impossible to find also.

yes, there are lots of UGLY guns out there. i dont want ANY of them, UNLESS, my life was at risk, and that was all that was available.

I passed on tickets to a raffle for a MAC-10, but I did buy tickets for the Thompson (I mean, I'm not THAT crazy).

Among the pieces in my collection, there is a Heritage Rough Rider, and a first production Tec-9. I regret selling my Raven MP-25.

The .22 single action Rough Rider is fun, but not very accurate. The ejector shroud wiggles loose after about 100 rounds or so, without any Loc-Tite.

The Raven .25 saved me from a street mugging. A young fellow approached me, asking about money while he was opening a large folding knife. I drew the pistol, chambered a round, and pointed it at his forehead. He stopped approaching me, stopped talking, put his knife away, and turned around and walked away. Mechanically, it was a bit clunky to disassemble, but it was accurate enough to plink empty 12 gauge hulls from 10 yards.

The Intratec Tec-9? Surprisingly well made and more accurate than any other off-the-shelf 9mm I have owned. It does not feed well with CCI Blazers. I have read that later models, especially the DC-9s were made with less attention to tolerances.

Junkers? Maybe not pretty, but for those that have never fired one, don't judge a book by it's cover.

The ones I've seen are anything but junk, I just have no need for them. - - Anything chambered in 50 BMG.

Then there are the junk guns - anything in .25ACP.

I would never want anything in the class of Lorcin, Jennings, Raven, et al. Nor would I want a Hi-Point. I'm sorry, but they're blocky, have horrendous triggers, and feel terrible in my hand. Who even knows when they're just gonna crap on you?

I don't see much point in rounds like .30 T.C., .308 Marlin Express (Hello! .307 Win.!), most of the short magnums, the WSSM's, .338 Federal, 7mm and .300 RUM, and so forth, but I'd definitely take a rifle in one of those chamberings for free. Same thing with gold guns, which I'd promptly sell.

Actually, I would love a real Uzi. They're also not really that expensive to manufacture. Somewhere between a Sten and an MP-5, I believe. How's that for precise? :neener:
