Is there something I'm missing here

That was a pretty normal price back before the great ammo drought, sgammo has them for $26 as well. The standard pressure version is $24. Buy them in the 50 rd boxes now so you don't have to buy the 20 rd ripoff boxes later.

FYI, if anyone is looking they also have 180gr .40 HST contract overrun for $24 a box.

Sure there is, at least according to the majority of states that have laws against it, but the term really only applies to the pricing of essentials during disaster or emergency situations, which this is not. No, what we have here ($22 for 20 rds) is just a good old fashioned crappy deal.

For speer gold do 124 gr +p I usually see it for around $22 for a box of 20. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/88...r-p-124-grain-jacketed-hollow-point-box-of-20 but this website has a box of 50 listed for $26 http://www.ammunitiondepot.com/CCI-Speer-9mm-124-Grain-P-Gold-Dot-Hollow-Point-p/53617.htm
So like I said is there something I'm missing?
Around here the smaller law enforcement jurisdictions who get "special" pricing on premium JHP in "LEO" 50 round boxes, something like $300/1000.

They often buy about twice what they expect to need to get the best price and then sell half of it to larger local ammo gun show/on line dealers for the price they paid for the whole lot.

These dealers then sell the boxes of 50 for about what the "consumer" boxes of 20 are priced.

The police get essentially free ammo, the middle men dealers make a few bucks and we get good deals on "police surplus" ammo. Everybody wins, sort of.

Not to hijack or drift any further than this:

That explains why there isn't. Midway is a retailer selling items at retail pricing. In the stores where I live, their pricing structure is more the norm than these other folks. Fancy HD ammo has always been priced from .5-1.00/round for as long as I can remember.

If you do not like Midway's ASKING price, then either counter offer, or go to their competitor that offers a better deal.

A woman goes into a butcher shop and asks how much his chickens are. "$4.79 per pound", he says. "Why that's ridiculous!", the woman says. "Harvey across the street sells his chicken for $1.99 per pound!". The butcher replies, "Then why aren't you over there buying his chicken?". The woman responds, "Because he doesn't any!". "Well, " the butcher says, "When I don't have any, my price will be $1.99 too".

If you want it bad enough, then you pay what the current market price is or you do without - no matter what the item is.

I guess they might have mentioned something about market theory in my MBA program ; ) . I get that you're making a statement, but there really are laws that address price gouging of essentials in emergency situations, so to say that there is no such thing as price gouging is legally and literally false.

Like I said before, the concept of price gouging doesn't apply in this case.

Here are Georgia's policies on the issue:

50 round boxes of premium ammo is sold to law enforcement in large quantities. Unused or overproduced ammo is then sold as surplus to dealers at a highly discounted price which is often sold to civilians at a discount when compared to civilian packaged ammo. The supply of surplus ammo is variable and not always available. Take advantage of the availability when you find it as it may not be available again for months, or years or not at all.
