At a local pawn shop today, I bought a 500 round case of Federal 5.56 55gr (XM193) ammo for $140 out the door. I thought this was a good price...much cheaper than the 100 round boxes of federal I've bought at Walmart for $40 each. The stuff was boxed in 20 round, brown boxes (25 of these in the case) and has a Lake City (LC) head stamp. I know you can buy the russian/wolf/steel/nonreloadable stuff for cheaper, but I reload so I want the brass. So, was $140 a good price?

I ask because, as we were finishing the transaction, he mentioned he had 2 or 3 more 500 round cases in the back. If $140 is a good price for this stuff, I might buy those as well.

Thanks,

If it's the stuff that I'm thinking it is, it's a good deal. That's the stuff and people were buying for $400 a case of 1K, not too long ago.

If it was actual XM193 yes thats a very good deal. I would like to see anyone post a better deal on it
Best I have found was $300.00 delivered that I won on a online auction

Wow...sounds like it was a pretty good deal. Here's a picture of the stuff. It says XM193 on the box so I assume it's the real deal. For $140 out the door, I'll probably going to go back and get the remaining 2-3 boxes he mentioned.

i just bought 1000rds of 55gr. federal .223 which isn't as hot for $320. so yes i think it's a good deal, slightly cheeper and a little hotter.

And reloadable too! Wollf may be cheaper(they can't spell it either-saw a box with it spelled WOFL!) Biggest complaint at Ruger on Mini14 warranty work is gummed up firing pins from the lacquer on the Russian ammo! You did well!

Yeah that's a pretty good deal. Anything under about 30 cents a round for brass is pretty good. Coming in under a quarter a piece is cheaper then I can reload it for (I don't buy powder or primers in bulk so that's what gets me).
