Is this going to get me pulled over?

Well, I think that the mardi gras beads that were dangling from my van's rear view mirror finally reached critical mass.

Do I have to glue it back up? I like the view without it (sorta miss the beads tho...). The mirror normally has a lovely view of the fake leopard blanket that blocks off the rear of the van (had to loan the camo one to another friend). Van has two side mirrors, which are used, thankyouverymuch.

Going down to that full auto shoot in Oklahoma this weekend, and will likely have an AR, maybe a couple of bench rifles, with a pretty fair amount of ammo and/or powder/projectiles in the back of the van... I would really rather avoid spending a coupla hours standing on the side of the road while the cops figure out just what I might be guilty of...

It probably is a good idea just to glue it back. It may be legal not to have it but like you mentioned do you really want to wait around for a couple of hours while they figure it out (or have to go to court to prove that it is)?

Don't know what Missouri law is, but in Illinois, if you have two outside mirrors (one on each side) you are good to go. Ironically over here you could have been pulled over for having the beads hanging from your rear view mirror. Can't put anything there that would obstruct your view.

In anti-gun/sheeple-infested Maryland, I just throw a sheet over all the guns and stuff in the back of my SUV. One time, I was being followed by a cop on a motorcycle while I was driving to the range (police substation is about three miles from the range and he just happened to be going the same way), he spent a whole lot of time standing up on the stirrups (if thats what they're called on a bike) while real close to my bumper trying to figure out what was under the sheet, but turning into the range probably answered his question.

Same in California, 2 side mirrors means you can paint the back window black if you want..

And you'd get busted in PRK for the beads too..

Not sure about Misery though...

Do you have the press set up in the back of your van now? I seem to remember you talking like you were going to when you first picked it up. Have been thinking a bit about buying an inexpensive-ish van and mounting my rock-chucker in the back. Seems like it would be just the thing for load development.

I picked up a toss-away old HP printer stand (those things with the big holes in the middle). It's about 1.25 - 1.5 inches thick and stout. The presses, etc., don't stay on the thing when it's parked, but it works nicely at the range. And it comes out if I have to haul people. Probably going to add a plywood top to it soon. Promise to post pictures.

Some folks have modified those little enclosed utility trailers for loading - Lots more interior room than "travel trailers," and they've generally got a greater working payload capacity - important when you're into this sorta hobby - My gunsmith as a great one - cabinets, benches, tie-downs for cargo, and an RV air conditioner on top. Saw a really nice one at the Supershoot with drawers for rifles, a generator, etc...

I'm thinking of getting one of the open-bed el-cheapo trailers from Harbor Freight, and putting together a box with stations for loading, cleaning, etc., for going prairie dog shooting...

I used to drive "ahem" kinda fast. In one particularly tight curve post Mardi Gras, my beads wrapped themselves around the steering wheel and wouldn't let go. Picture it for yourself. It got ugly. Lost my mirror, too.

Last year's beads belong in a box, being saved for "barter" this year.

;)

My pickup passes state inspection without a rearview mirror. Have one on each side. No other state has said anything in three years.

Muzzle loaders are way ahead of you all :D

Each state is different. Alabama law requires a rearview mirror, even if your van doesn't have rear glass. Don't ask me, I didn't make the law.

Check with your local state troopers or what ever they call them there and find out what the state law says.

It seems to be OK not to have rear view mirrors in the movies. Ckeck out the two cops driving viewed through the windshield of the car.they take the mirror out so you can see them OK. But, of course this is the movies.
