Hey, don't worry. When in doubt, ask!!! You'd have felt pretty bad if you hadn't asked, and assumed it was OK, only to find out (when you next fired it) that your first instinct was right, and you've now got a shot-up hand to remind you!

Colt used to have an ad where they quoted a letter from a customer who noticed a "crack" in his frame, which turned out to be the sideplate.

Colt was proud of their sideplate fitting abilities.
