Is this not the ugliest thing you've ever seen on an AK?

Which leads then to the critical point mentioned by a couple of folks. Who cares about the looks so long as it does what is needed in a manner that is needed for the person that needs it and can use it.

That somebody is marketing a funky trigger for the AK that 'you' think is ugly just means that you don't need to buy it for you. It does nothing to your AK

To be honest, the oversized trigger actually looks like a better form/function fit for the gun than the standard trigger to me. Neither looks particularly appealing or repulsive.

I'd recommend taking a look at what the Alfa group has been doing to their AKs to make them more relevant and effective in modern times.

I love statements like this. It assumes that if the "Alpha" group does something that it must be correct and therefore somehow relevant to the rest of us. The wants and/or needs of the "Alpha" group are not likely to mirror the specific needs of us as individuals unless we are part of the "Alpha" group and doing exactly what they are doing. Those I know in the "Alpha" group configure themselves and their gear for mission-specific purposes. What they need on this trip does not necessarily reflect what they need on the next or the last trip. 99.99% of us are not the "Alpha" group dealing with their problems.

Outfit (or not) your gear as you want it to be for your needs, not how somebody else thinks it should be.

Personally, I LOVE the dismissal of it because it points out a huge fallacy in the thinking of lots of gun owners. Is the life of, say, Putin more valuable than YOUR life or the life your LOVED ONES?

Judging by your response, you must feel that the answer is YES.

If you want to blindly go spraying your AK at shadows in your home because you heard something fall and break in the middle of the night, be my guest.

Me, I prefer to be able to identify whether or not that person belongs in my home and to be able to make decisions accordingly, using modern advancements to help achieve that goal. I'm not alone in that mindset, nor that decision.

Like I said, new American AKs from century or I.O. that already come out of the box with rails and whatnot, I would not mind trickin it out some to make it more practical for serious use as a home defence or god forbid a combat weapon. Aside form those, I look at most other AKs like I would a Mosin or a Mauser or a Garand, An Old military rifle (yeah I get pretty much none of them actually count as milsurps, but still) and I like them with wood furniture and no rails or attachments, I wouldn't be using them as a combat weapon though.
