I am looking into a Polish AK-47 variant for my AWB sunset celebration rifle.

Particularly the AK V 47 , Classic seen further down on this page http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/rifles/ak47/ak47.html

The description in part says "These unique rifles start as original polish AK parts set, they are Factory built on a new Ohio Ordnance receiver .Slant style muzzle brake, parkerized finish , wood front stock sets ."

Is $429 a good price? Or do you think the price will come down abit after september? :D

Also, in your opinion what is the quality of the Polish models. I've seen the picture depicting the Romanian, Bulgarian, and Russian, but I wonder where the Polish model fits into this quality heirarchy.

Thanks in advance
JP

the Poles make a fine kalshinkov

the question with these is how good of a job is the conversion from the imported surplus "parts"

When the shipment of Romanian rifles that was hung up in Italy this summer makes it to market, there maybe a lowering of the spot market price on evil AK toys.

I'd wait until genuine folding stock models are available after 9/13.

From the site:
if the assault weapons ban is lifted you will be able to complete the rifle to make it a working under folder

How?
They make it sound easy.

My understanding is that folding stocks that are made into fixed stocks in order to comply with the AWB have to be permanently (welded, etc.) fixed into position.

'Unfixing' a folder isn't all that easy unless you're good at metalworking and have the tools needed.

AFAIK, the regs on fixed stocks are looser than fixed muzzle brakes. A single spot of weld will suffice to make a folder "permanently fixed," and then when the ban ends something as simple as a Dremel tool can allow it to fold again.

How does one find out about such information on incoming shipments? I would have never known a shipment was even coming.

Thanks for the help.

If I'm not mistaken these are made by Vector Arms, and are supposed to be very nice. I think Vector has them listed on their page although there isn't any more info on them. And the stocks are pinned open, I'm not sure there's any welding actually on them now...

The post-ban underfolders are usually pinned in place rather than welded. One has to dissasemble the rifle and replace the pin with the original part to convert them. Its a fairly easy task that doesnt involve welding at all.

Yes they are made by Vector. I finally got a hold of one this past weekend at a show in Pa. It seemed well made. The only thing lacking was the finish. It seemed to be a dull gray parkerizing. I like my AK's finished in a more black color. Price is fine and the quality of the Polish kits is A1+.
