Seems like every time I go to my local store (the most popular in town anyway) It is always wall to wall humanity. The place is already cramped and I can't believe they comply with the ADA aisle width regulations as it is. I like the place, I like their selection, I like the staff. (I think they need more staff and a bigger building though). Their prices are a little high, although pretty much the same as the Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shop in the area. However, I've often left there and gone and bought what I want at Gander or Bass Pro instead because I can just walk in and get helped right away. Although lately Gander and Bass Pro, although not crowded seem to be under staffed. I consider myself to be a patient person, but I am not much for being a sardine. This phenomenon was going on before Obama even got elected.

It tends to happen if your the only or best show in town. My LGS is always rocking.

Shop in Yonkers I go to is almost always packed, but that's probably due in large measure to the small size of the place. The fellow who runs it is a pretty nice guy - very reasonable prices on guns, ammo and transfer fees.

Main one here in Columbus area is always packed. You're usually waiting 10-15 people deep on the weekend to get help. Good store and best prices in town though. I've also noticed a lot more people at the range a go to and more bringing their kids to teach them how to shoot safely.

Not too bad around here through the week, but we have a number of good shops to spread out the crowd. Weekends and gun shows are wall-to-wall bodies though.
I plan to go tomorrow morning on the way to the range (vacation YAY!)....it was insane today. I thought the gun show would bleed off some of the crowd.

Mine has been packed every time I go for the past few months. You have to elbow your way to the counter and wait about 20 minutes for service.
There are so many gun shows around here that I usually don't go to gun stores. The ones I do go to, Cheaper than dirt and Cabela's, are usually crowded....Now that I am retired on fixed income, I don't do much gun stuff buying.....chris3

The good gunshops have been busy in my area. I honestly don't understand why people are wanting to buy firearms so much these days??? I can understand the newest offerings being in demand, but it has been crazy of late.

My favorite local gun shop probably has 200 sq/ft of showroom and it's packed with merchandise. Throw in 3 or 4 customers and there isn't much room to move. So, I guess you could say it's always crowded! I don't mind it though because they always make me feel welcome, are knowledgeable and glad to help. They have a good selection of weapons but are about 5-10% over on their prices...but are willing to haggle!

In a word, yes. We have a local gun store that competes with two major chains. The parking lot in one of the chains is ALWAYS very sparsely filled. Our local shop, on the other hand, is doing a "land office" business.

greentop is so small and the isles so narrow its a waste of time to try and actually look at anything there most of the time. i slip in there at 1 or 2 on a tuesday if i can, and can actually handle the guns and shop. the isles are crazy narrow and its hard to handle a long gun, get it back in the rack without bashing the opposite rack...
It depends on the time, bought my gun on a Tuesday and there was maybe one or two other customers there, came back Saturday to pick it up and I was there for at least 45 minutes before my background check (he was doing like 5 at the same time) and other purchases were completed. This was the day of the gun show too, apparently there was a line 1000 deep just waiting to just into the show.
The other store I go to is also busier in the evenings and weekends, but they recently merged their showroom and range into one for some reason, doesn't seem like they can display as many guns as before.

God yes!! Larry's Pistol and Pawn in Huntsville AL. Tiny store with little to no room for customers to walk. Great selection, great prices, great staff. Horrible layout and parking. Larry if you're reading this you need a bigger location!!

Off and on, ya never know when business is going to pick-up, but when it does it gets down right crowded in there. The owner plans on opening another down the road.
