I'm looking for a good manual or takedown guide for an Ishapore Enfield 2A in 7.62 NATO. Just picked one up and want to do a complete detail strip to clean everything up, and assess whether or not to refinish the whole thing. Any ideas?

I have got one and am in the process of refinishing it myself. I found that once you have the paint off there is a blued finish underneath that. I am going to ge all of the old paint stripped and then assemble it as is.

I can answer question 2.

No, with a caveat:
Federal is marketing a low-pressure cartridge that is safe for 7.62 NATO chambered arms. It's mentioned in one of the surplusrifle.com reviews.

Very nice, Jackal! You set a high standard! That's exactly the kind of result I'm hoping to achieve.

Ive never used oven ceaner for the metal before but i have used it on the wood and it does a great job of drawing out the oil from the wood. For removing the paint on the metal i used a good carb cleaner. It will take the paint right off. I dont know if them make a paint remover in a spray can but if they do that would be the way to go. Mine is a slow project but il try to get some pics up of what i have cleaned up so far. BTW, mine looks almost exactly as jackal described his.

Another question. Numrich sells a firing pin / bolt disassembly tool for the SMLE NO 4 MKI, NO 1 MKIII (part # 281780). Anybody know if this will fit the Ishapore 2A? My guess is that it should, but ...

rather than start a new thread, I'll just ask here and now about the No.4 mk1 : When replacing bolt heads, size 0 with a new size 1, how do I strip the old bolt head and reassemble the new one?

yes, it will. Still, it'll probably break the first time you use it.
I wondered about that. But buying one, I can get the dimensions to try and build another made out of tougher stuff. Looks like one should be able to cut the teeth in an appropriately sized metal tube ...

I usually remove the pivot screw, prise the claw out forwards and the spring is easy to remove after. Getting the spring back in [last] is a different story though, can be very difficult. A piece of dental floss in the elbow of the spring to pull it in can be useful and a tool with a prong to go through the hole in the bolthead and depress the limb with the pip on it.
