Nice. Several "gun forumns" have been actively censoring/deleting any posts related to this.

I just got banned from Saiga-12.com, for posting a rather banal cartoon! The reason? The mod was afraid of being "sued" by these irate muslims!

Maybe torch his house.. but sue? Over a single comic?

Probably don't want the site to be attacked and taken down. I don't think a lawsuit is as readily utilized as a physical attack or intimidation on the families of the site operators and moderators.

So are we putting up sandbag defense's around our homes?

Are there precautions being taken at various locations around THR locales?

Talk to the little ones.

whats going to happen when we dont need their oil anymore and everything runs on bio diesel and ethynol. our country has enough oil resources to cover our own needs if we change our fuel that we consume. I think its funny that a cartoon can get them going,,,,wait and see they may be the next jews of this century, not that i agree at all with what happened in WWII but alot of the world is getting fed up with what middleeasterners are doing.

Humor has a nasty but effective way of breaching hyper-rigorous (as in rigor mortis) piety and sanctimony.

I dont understand a single thing that you just said, as probably most here don't either.

I think it's going to be a few decades down the road before everything, even most everything is run on bio-diesel and/or ethanol. It's has to be cheaper to develop our own oil fields in the far north and coastlines.

This muslim/islam thing is going to be resolved before then. Lots of testing going on by the leaders of islam. Look how rapidly the protests have spread around the globe. There's a plan being worked out to overload every system we have in place to help or maintain civilised societies.

From the Telegraph,

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/02/05/nflag405.xml
Yesterday Hizb ut-Tahrir said it stood 'shoulder to shoulder' with its Muslim brethren around the world. The radical Islamicist religious group, which will take part in a national unity demonstration in London on February 18, also demanded the retraction of the caricatures and an apology for the offence caused.

With a couple weeks notice, how many muslims will be in London to help show support?

How many countries are also going to be affected? It's peaceful demonstrations which democratic countries adore.

Then there is that 12th iman guy in Iran wanting to hasten the second coming.

Plant a garden.

I believe this is the best one so far:

I dont understand a single thing that you just said, as probably most here don't either.

Humor punctures pomposity, sanctimony, hypocritical piety. Radical Islamists, preaching holiness while doing violence, have turned Islam into a cartoon; fitting, therefore, that cartoons would set them off.

LB:
The above point implies much knowledge & experience on your part. I want to take a moment to catalog just how much knowledge & experience the above point would require a person to have.

I want to take a moment to catalog my own experiences regarding this:

1. I've had a lifelong interest in spiritual matters.
2. In the course of studying religions in college just for fun, I received nearly enough credits to earn a bachelors degree in religious studies.
3. My first job out of college was developing products in the publishing house of one of the largest Christian churches in the United States. If you think you can sell product to your customers without having an intuitive feel for what's on the minds of 51 percent of your customers, you would be delusional.
4. My second job out of college was working for a press specializing in alternative spiritual publishing. This was a fantastic opportunity to pursue my interest in world religions.

I can't say that I understand the majority of Muslems thinking, but I know enough about them to say that the professional Muslems I've encountered in my professional life seem about as different as the loony tunes storming the embassies as the educated, professional Christians I've worked with intimately differ from the PIPs (People in the Pews, or as some of the less charitible clergy I worked with called them, the lower Christians) in mainstream Christianity.

After a lifetime of living with, studying, and working with Christians I can say with some authority that yes, most Christians don't seem to understand the basic tenents of their own religion. Ask your average Christian to define grace, the central tenent of the Christian Church, and he or she will probably tell you that Grace is the chick who lives with Will on that gay TV show.

It might be worth what you are paying for it, nothing but in my personal opinion, the self censoring seemingly practiced by some sites poses a much more serious problem than do the rantings of some Muslim Looney Tune types, who I suspect might well be unrepresentative of Muslim thought.

That might well be something rather sad to think on people, actually it might be a whole lot worse than merely sad.

I really want to stay out of this but can't. As an American, I want to live with the freedoms our founders outlined and wrote down so our government wouldn't forget we had those rights even BEFORE this country existed.
I have freedom of speech as an American (while in my country), I could care less if that offends you in any way when you get down to it.
If we allow people to immigrate, we need to be clear that they need to assimilate with US not the other way around. My tax dollars shouldn't go to print the drivers handbook in 20+ languages. Learn the language as those that immigrated and ADDED to the quality of America once did.
I really don't have a problem with anyones race etc., I DO have problems with your culture most likely. It is World War III, a war of religion and culture.
As soon as soon as the superpowers no longer need your lands for oil, I'd be very concerned.....

I absolutely agree. It is _very troubling_ of those who think the entire world is beholden to the lunacy of some few terrorists.

Should all the world stop eating hamburgers, as it offends hindu's?

Oh, even people there know what will happen. A Saudi saying from decades ago: "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son flies a jet-plane. His son will ride a camel."

Here's an English translation of the original Danish version of a letter sent in to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet:

We apologize for giving you shelter and help
We apologize for giving you an education
We apologize for helping you financially
We apologize for letting you do your own religion in our Christian country
We apologize for sending help to your countries
We apologize for not demanding blood-revenge on the murders on our countrymen by Muslims
We apologize for not running around with explosives on our bodies when we feel pushed aside
We apologize for not doing what your religion says.

But an apology for using freedom of speech in our own country by our own laws, you'll never get.

^We like.;)

To make this gun related, did anyone notice the positioning of the gas tube of the AK-47 in that cartoon near the bottom of the link posted by Can'thavenuthingood?

Judging from bumper stickers around here, not many Christians are aware that pride is a sin, either.

Just a smidgen intolerant, I'd say.

As a Christian (Lutheran), I have no problem with stuff like this, and actually find it amusing:

And while I wouldn't actually use one, I can even find the humor in this:

Which means that at least I can laugh at myself and my religious beliefs without getting bent out of shape.

Contrast that to this:

Point of information - Denmark still has compulsory military service. My Danish friends joke about their time in the army 20 years ago, but they all did it. These guys are balding sw geeks ready to go-a-viking. To me, that says something that we're not seeing in the media about Danish sentiment (or maybe I missed it).

I wouldn't at all be surprised if we got a much more vigorous ally out of all this. Gotta try and find a silver lining somewhere...

I think it is getting close to the time when the West cleans house this jhiad thing is getting old and with the will the West certainly has the might. Let the academics wring their hands 20 years from now about whether it was justified or not.

Stay Safe

Has everone read the latest news? Now Iran is holding a contest for a cartoon about the holocaust. Yeah, how are those two equal is beyond me. IF there had been a cartoon poking fun at mass-genocide of Islamic followers, then maybe I could see it as being fair. But they're just looking to stir up trouble. Its the the arguement, "Oh that offends me, so I have to do something ten times worse to get even." How Iran can even claim the holocaust is a myth after all the footage on video (a lot of it I have seen), the survivors (a few I met), and the fact they know nothing that they are talking about. They want to send a "scientific team" into Europe to do a study now. Whatever!:fire:
