Isn't a widebody .45 the greatest defensive handgun?

Nope I think a nice slicked up revolver is better for Defence.

But gimme a Govt spec 1911a1 for a Offensive weapon...... Maybe SIG p220st in 45 or a Glock 21 or a BHP. If I am going for the offensive I want lots of ammo, but if I am using a gun for Self defence gimme a WHEELIE.

Let me add to my earlier post...

I think it was Cooper that said something to the effect of: " If 7 or 8 rounds doesn't stop the threat; you are in more trouble than a handgun will get you out of."

Wise words.

But I still prefer double stacks.

another vote for a wheelie

Ah yes, Prfssr, you are absolutely right! a wheelie with a couple of speedloaders for defense.

I find double stack 45s to be much chunkier than their 9mm counterparts....if you put a browning hi-power base to base with a single stack 1911 you will see they are very close in width.....

If I were in a position were I needed firepower to defend myself and 8 rounds of .45ACP wasnt suffiecent I have extra mags for the rest of bad juju. Seriously a single stack 1911 will serve you well.
