Isn't Sean Penn a FELON?

Charged and convicted are two different things. You don't have to have a record to be a criminal either.

He was convicted of spousal battery and yet he somehow managed to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

EDIT: he has been arrested for spousal battery, conviction not verified.

It doesn't matter. Penn is one of the Ruling Elite. He doesn't have to obey the same ste of laws as us serfs.

bountyhunter,
Thats what I'm talking about, I'm doing a search but I'm sure he was convicted. Probably had some slimey lawyer expunge his record. To top it all off, his CCW was from the most leftist, anti-gun county on the west coast; Marin county!

Is Penn anti-2A? I would imagine he is pretty pro-gun, given his choice of friends. What I don't understand is why everyone bashes the guy so much. Sure, he wears his politics on his sleeve, but since those politics don't clash with the gun community, why does the gun community get all frothy-mouthed and crazy about the guy?

1987 Wound up in L.A. County jail for a month after violating probation in connection with an assault-and-battery charge when he punched an extra on the set of "Colors".

If he was on probation at the time he was "violated", that (by definition) means he was convicted or plead out to some charges to get put on probation in the first place. The DA may have let him plead it down to a misdemeanor. I know he committed assault on his (then) wife Madonna numerous times, but she may not have pressed charges.

I believe he is "Feinstein Pro-gun" which is to say he is all in favor of HIM and HIS BODYGUARDS having guns...... not so sure about the rest of us "rabble".

What I don't understand is why everyone bashes the guy so much.
Because he is an obnoxious thug who flys off and throws punches at both male and female victims at the drop of a hat. he is the poster boy for anger management problems. He has also publicly trashed some hollywood actors he deems "unworthy" of the craft... pretty risky considering some of the dogs he has been in. Just a bad idea to bite the hand that feeds you.

But, he is one of the best actors working today, which is the only reason the studio system will tolerate his antics.

Which is a sad commentary. I rather liked him in Mystic River, but I've seen much better on the screen. 'Course, nothing has, imo, been what I consider a "good" movie for about the last 20 years. I don't care for movies as entertainment. I like movies as a combination of good visual art and good writing. You just don't see much like that anymore.

Lobotomy Boy, I think his politics do clash with the gun community. He may or may not be "anti-gun" in his expressed opinion. I don't really know. What I do know is that what we see of his values in the media clashes with the sorts of values that the gun community in general holds. That's not to say that we're all the same, he's just the kind of person we typically don't like.

Of course, YMMV. We are 20,000 individuals.

What? No, he's not. He's a friggin' actor, for cryin' out loud. He may be one of your "ruling elite," but he sure ain't one of mine ...

All members of the Film Actors Guild are members of the Ruling Elite. :neener:

Sean Penn is a member of the Film Actors Guild.
For those who are not getting this, go out and rent Team America: World Police. You'll never think of Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, Kim Jong Il, or Michael Moore the same way again.

"Hans Brix! Hans Brix! You break my balls!"

Sean Penn was on CNN talking streaming out leftist\liberal websites in an interview I saw with him. I don't know what he supports personally, but he was endorsing groups that for the most part endorse political people who are anti-RKBA.

he has a penchant for violence towards anyone, family, photographers, extras (?)

his history is quite well recorded. he is just a rude and inconsiderate human being... classic bully, cheap shotting wannabe tough guy. I'd love to see a vid of him getting his ass kicked for one of his temper tantrums he is famous for.

Maybe it's just me, but there are certain people I just look and and dislike immediately. Sean Penn is one of them. He has a face that just invites a smack with a bat.

As for his acting abilities, he's pretty far down the list.

If he were to come out and announce that he's a 2A purist, I might change my opinion.

ARgH! wouldnt just the charges and domestic violence problems be way more than enough to get him on the no-sale list in CAli?

ridiculous abuse of power as usual. he is one of the ruling elite by default in that those with the deep contributing pockets get to do what they want.

Isn't Penn a felon? Apparently not. To be a felon in the eyes of the law as it pertains to whether or not you have all your rights, you must be convicted of a felony. Since he isn't convicted of a felony, then he hasn't lost RKBA. Simple.

Does not matter.

Under the Federal Lautenberg Act that should be enough to disqualify him from owning or even possessing a firearm of any kind for life and would be an instant go back to jail offense if he was one of the mere subjects of the country.
