More fallout from VT

May 1, 2007 - Springfield Report

Today Senator Dan Kotowski continued his practice of dancing in the blood of the Virginia Tech victims, when he put a hostile amendment on Senator A. J. Whihelmi's bill SB1007. With only an hour's notice, Kotowski placed an amendment on SB1007 in the infamous Public Health Committee. The amendment is a magazine ban reminiscent of the failed Clinton Gun Ban, this ban would limit legal magazines to 10 rounds. The original intent of SB1007 was to address the section of the criminal code which deals with the sexual exploitation of children. Is there anything this guy won't do?

The committee vote on the amendment was 7 yeas, 0 nays, and 3 present.

This bill could come up for a vote as early as tomorrow, May 2. Please call your State Senator and urge him or her to oppose SB1007.

Last week on Thursday, Representative Annazette Collins broke rank with those urban legislators who typically vote for anti-gun legislation, and voted against HB758, a bill that would pretty much outlaw private transfers. Now this week, she is getting beat up very hard on her vote against HB758.

We are asking our people to make supporting "thank you calls" to Representative Collins. Her 10th District Phone is 773-533-0010. Her Springfield phone is 217-782-8077.

Please check out our website and consider going to our fund raising dinner on May 10.

This Kotowski guy is my senator and I have already called his office but seriously doubt it will have an effect since his sole reason for living is to introduce gun control measures. Before he was a senator he was a full time, paid anti gun lobbyist.
All you people in Illinois please call your senators on this one. We cannot let this guy get away with this.

One topic at a time.. Political boondoggling..

I think we could all get behind some rationality at the State and Federal levels..

One topic at a time..

If a bill is about sexual exploitation of children.. How in the world is
an amendment dealing with the number of rounds in a magazine even
considered appropriate?? Grr..:banghead:

Later,
Steve

This is an Illinois State bill. SB1007. In its original form it dealt with modifying the criminal code for sexual exploitation of children. Kotowski attached this amendment today at the last second which limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds.

The link jpk1md posted is the bill. It passed committee today, it has not come up for a vote in the Senate yet. I don't think it has passed through the House yet.

If you click on the link you can use the links at the top of that page and read Senate Amendment 001.

As early as today, May 2, your State Senator could vote on legislation sponsored by former gun-ban lobbyist and current State Senator, Dan Kotowski (D-33), which would ban the manufacture, possession, delivery, sale, and purchase of standard capacity ammunition magazines capable of holding more than ten (10) rounds.

If the State Senate is capable of limiting our standard ammunition capacity to ten (10), they will limit it to five (5), and they will keep on limiting our right to keep and bear arms until there is nothing left.

Please call your State Senator today and urge him or her to oppose Senate Bill 1007!

It is critical that you call your State Senator today at (217) 782-5715 and urge him or her to OPPOSE this ban that will be used to undermine our Second Amendment rights in Illinois.
