Ya know, an easy way to counter those would be to dash in another alley, and toss a grenade out at them. They wouldn't be able to get up in time to run. What a stupid idea. You can also only hang one of those things out at a time. Someone's going to learn to charge those things while zigzagging...

I saw the guy who invented this new firearm on Fox News. It is a rifle in which the barrel "bends" to shoot around corners. He was even asked by the Fox News host to give a demo on how is new gun works! He stated sales would be limited to military and LE. This guy is a former anti-terrorist commando from Israel.

I found some info on this new invention from ap.org:

Company unveils rifle that can shoot around corners

Shoham Firing Range, Israel-AP -- Israeli officials have unveiled a rifle that can shoot at targets that are around a corner.

It does so by using a device that swivels at the middle -- with the stock, trigger and a small screen at the hand-held end.

The entire firing mechanism, fitted with a pistol that sits over a mini-camera with a zoom lens, is located at the front end.

A lever allows the user to quickly move the firing end to another position to better focus on the target.

The developer of the device says it will be a big help for soldiers in urban combat. He says U-S forces have already begun training with it and SWAT and police teams in the U-S have expressed interest in buying it. He says Israel plans to start using it next week.

The device can be fitted to several different pistols and rifles.

It will cost between three-thousand and five-thousand dollars.

You recall correctly. The German version was (and this new one will likely be) a dismal failure. Barrel life was REALLY short.

Wow, after all, the whole idea is to outfit the entire team with them. Never ever just use it in it's INTENDED PURPOSE.

Yeah, what the hell, every situation calls for throwing grenades indiscriminately. While we are at it, why stop with grenades, lets just nuke the whole city.

This is a tactical tool. It's not intended for every situation, it's designed to add to the arsenal. Instead of having to lean around the corner and scope things out, you have a weapon, capable of precision fire.

Amazing how some of you miss the forest because of the trees

Looks like a life-support system for a Beretta 9mm...

Wonder how easy it would be for return fire to disable all that mass sticking around a corner? ;)

Not an MP40, but an Stg 43/44, with two barrel attachments called Krummlauf (or something like that).

One was angled at 45 deg., the other at 90 deg.

They were issued primarily for use by armored troops, who would use them to engage enemy troops that got too close to the tank. Some were also used by infantry.

Both employed a prismatic sight.

The Americans developed something very similar for armored troops that went with the M3 and M3A1 grease guns.
