Treated myself to another one of Miha's custom molds. Took about 2 weeks to arrive from Slovenia, but as with all his brass molds, well worth the wait. This particular one is a Cramer hollowpoint version of Elmer Keith's 2nd mold (Lyman 452423) he designed more than 85 years ago. While I got it primarily for my .45 Colt, with any kind of luck, it will feed in my Model 1911 and will do double duty with it as well. Guess you know what I will be doing this weekend.

Great photos. It looks beautiful. Now, I am so tempted to buy a hollow point mould. I have many (30-40) moulds but no hollow points. The Miha's are so fine looking.

kerreckt,

You will love his moulds. This is my 5th one, and I doubt if it's my last. This particular one came with 5 different types of pins: deep round hollowpoint, shallow round hollowpoint, pentagon hollowpoint, cup hollowpoint, and flat (produces a solid bullet without a hollowpoint).

Glad i read this thread- last time I was on his site (which was a long while ago) there was no order form and my understanding was that he was only taking group buys from Cast Boolits. Well, I've bookmarked his site now since I recently acquired an NOE mould. Nice looking mould by the way .

Look like some pretty bullets. Ive heard good things about mp.

Ive been wanting to get a hp mold. I powdercoat my bullets and was hoping to work up some loads and test the coated hp rounds for expansion and penetration.

Some guys over on the castboolits forum have had some good success with different calibers using the right lead mixture. See if i cant have some of that same sucess.

Hoping for a report on how they shoot! ;)

I love my Mihec .45 ACP mold.

Stick on wheel weights or roofing lead plus about 2% tin works great for me and gives excellent, reliable expansion.

The "Penta Points" work OK with harder alloy, but they tend to fragment rather than expand.

Very cool.

Do you know if they make custom molds? Ive kicked around casting, but I would powder coat and lube grooves do nothing on that type of bullet.

Miha does make custom molds, but I think they're generally for group buys. It takes as much time and effort to reprogram his CNC machinery to make one mold as it does 50, so higher production numbers help keep the per unit costs down.
