Revolution number 2 started this morning and you are off to join the front lines to pop blue-helmet JBT's. What rifle do you grab from the safe? I excluded any uber-weapons because 90% of gun owners don't own multi thousand dollar full-auto hardware.

I'm sure this has been done before, but I havent seen it recently.

FN FAL

Because I have several of them.
I am GOOD with them.
I was trained with them.
They will do anything I ask.

7.62 :D

Of all the guns I've sold off or traded away, the only one I truly miss is the HK 93. So, that is the one I would try to get back. (That is of course when the political climate in the Golden State changes!)

Start off with a Garand. It's a piece of history that you will absolutely love. It'll spark up conversations everytime you go shoot.

Then--buy the rest.

I picked M14 because that would be my ideal choice. Limited to just what I own, it'd be my .308 scout. Why? Because they best meet my battle rifle criteria:

1) Reliability
2) Accuracy
3) Ballistic power
4) Handy & easy to use

I would take my AR10 for the long shots and my Bushy 16" Flattop for everything else.

Not on your list, but who was it that said a silenced .22 lr could/would be used to take out the ringleader of a rioting mob?

Did I say silenced? I meant ...

I saw a couple of weird things at a gunshow (SOF Convention) here years ago... One looked like a tin can filled with steel wool, another was a tin can filled with ?axle grease? Strange, they were.

Might be good for a shoot and scoot scenario anyways (But only where legal, with all necessary permits in place, of course:D ).

Wouldn't want to linger too long in any one place in any case.

I do so love these "what if" scenarios. Imagine going up against trained troops with all their FA weaponry, gas grenades, helicopters, armored personnel carriers and communication equipment. Not to mention Night Vision or Infra-red thermal imaging toys.

Hmmm. What's the Boy Scout motto?

Adios

I'd take a suppressed .22LR pistol, a bunch of homemade satchel charges, and a pile of locksmithing tools. Maybe some kind of sniper rifle if I had a good place to stash it.

Open-field fighting is not good medicine for freelance revolutionaries. I'd rather play the sabetour, I'd probably live longer.

I'm way more worried about the nut-jobs who fear that the UN is a threat to our Great Nation ........and we will have to join the front lines and start popping them off!

for them I'd keep my .30 Carbine handy

I'm with Dude on that one! I'm going with the Mil-Spec AR-15. It's light, I can carry a fair amount of ammo for it, and it's more than accurate enough to peel the tin foil hat from a pointed noggin at 300 meters! My second choice would be virtually anything in the AK family, for obvious reasons.

DISCLAIMER: The above post is not intended to offend or disturb those who utilize Reynolds Wrap as everyday headgear. It is apparent that they are disturbed enough without Dude and myself adding to their paranoia. We are not controlling your thoughts...I do not own a "black helicopter"...The 10th Mountain Division is not your enemy... :p

dude, purely hypothetical man. I'm not paranoid, but its interesting to bounce ideas off of other like-minded folks. Fiction novels are great too :)

I have a spare Black Helo for you if you need one. I spent a bit of time crewing some BIG black ones up at Ft Drum in the Mid 80s.

New Shooter 78:

Don't worry, if the SHTF, you will be able to trade up your .270 for an M-16A2, M-4 or MP-5 pretty quick.

Hell, keep your .270 too.

The Garand would be the one I'd pull out of the locker. Accurate, powerful, and reliable. Also will penetrate most body armor and thin-skinned vehicles. Ammo is readily available. If things really went south, I'd either be dead or have alot of other weapons available to me. Lock-n-load, hope for the best, and squeeze 'em off. Give the wife a 12 bore w/ buck and tell her to watch my six.

Well if everything has fallen apart, I'll grab the AR15, because that is what I have.

Would the urge to take on the hypothetical advance of blue helmets...

Go away with a thicker application of tin foil on the cranium? :scrutiny:
