Christmas eve my son and I had a couple of errands to run. He said he wanted to go to the Shooter's Club and pick up a particular pepper spray that his girlfriend had seen there. His girlfriend had recently received her CHL, but had not gotten herself a pistol yet. While there he spotted a Bersa .380 for a good price, and having won a very nice pot in a Texas Holdem game a few days before, he bought it for her for Christmas. He also bought a box of rounds. He wrapped them seperately. She loves to shake the boxes and try to decide what's inside. The box of bullets was really fun. She finally decided it had to be a box of marbles. Man was she surprised. She immediately looked at me and asked "are any of the ranges open today?". Not on Christmas day, but she and my son spent next day at the range (I had to work, %^&*))*!). This has really been fun for me, because I taught both her and my son to shoot, and coached her a bit before her CHL class. After the range session they came by, and I showed her how to field strip the pistol, and clean it. While I was working on it, she says, "You really love this, don't you?". Yep, I do.

Your son bought his girlfriend a Bersa .380 for Christmas and my wife stole my Bersa .380 after a Christmas Eve range trip.

Small world...

Nice little guns aren't they?

If you aren't used to them, here's a few tips for reassembly. The two biggest issues with the Bersa .380 is jamming and it's hard to reassemble. Most jamming is caused by the recoil spring being installed backwards. It's hard to notice, but one end of the spring is slightly smaller than the other in diameter. Put the small end on the barrel. Then, once you get it on there, take a look at the end of the spring that is hanging off the barrel. See the very end of the spring, where the metal stops, make sure that end is facing up when you put the slide on and it won't hang up when you try to put the barrel through the hole in the slide.

Thanks, XDKingslayer.

This board is certainly a wellspring of information. She kept saying pay attention to how the spring came off, and be sure to put it back the same way. The guy we bought the gun from, told her that when she was at the range. I kept thinking..."Probably some wives tale", but obviously not. I will have to get her to bring it back over and make sure I got it in right. Thanks again.
