What are some good Italian shotgun brands? I'm gonna use mine for the following (in order): Trap/skeet/clays, upland, waterfowl on occasion.

Fabbri, Piotti, Cosmi can cost about what a house does.

Then there are more affordable guns like Beretta, Benelli, Ceaser Guerini, Bernadelli, etc.

Gun making has been going on for hundreds of years there.

Weatherby break-actions are now made by Fausti Stefano.

Their new autos are made in Turkey.

WRT Italian shotguns, Perazzi makes nice guns.:) I like my Berettas.

I can recommend the Benelli brand, but that's the only one I have experience with. I owned a Benelli M3 Super 90 Combat, black synthetic stock with pistol grip and ghost ring sights, full length. A friend of mine said that since it's a tactical shotgun, the bore is optimized for slugs and double ought buck. It shot slugs very accurately right out of the box. Another thing to consider is that the U.S. Marine Corps adopted the Benelli shot gun of similar design for their troops, it's called the M1014 and has a telescoping stock and a short picatinny rail in front of the rear sight, and an extended magazine tube if I remember correctly.

However, I'm only referring to a tactical shotgun. Depending on what your needs are, for instance if you're talking about hunting, I don't know which would be best.

In addition the M3/M1014 shotgun can easily switch from pump to semi auto and back with a little rotating toggle at the end of the foregrip - this is one of the only legit tactical shotguns I know of that can do that. The only other one I've owned that could do that was the Franchi SPAS 12. However, the SPAS method of switching between pump and semi was a little bit more involved, a bit more complicated. I liked the magazine capacity of the SPAS and the low felt recoil because of the spring seeming to absorb most of it, plus the gun is a little heavier. The M3 is very light, solid, and dynamic, it almost feels like a baseball bat in your hands. The SPAS, which is French made by the way, is larger and has much more parts.

my benelli nova tactical shot slugs very accurately dead center out of 3 shots at 40 yards. im guessing this guy wants a clays gun though.

Most popular as far as quantity sold? Beretta......then Perazzi, Fabbri, Fausti, Piotti, Cosmi, Geurini, all three Rizzini's, Padrone, and the family under Beretta - Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger. There are also many smaller shops - similar to the way the Spanish gun indistry is.

You have a wide array of guns to choose from. Do you favor a pump, auto, or double gun? A Nova would fill your needs, so would a Beretta OU (or a Mossberg for that matter!). If by Italian you mean a quality gun with fit and finish to justify a higher price tag, Beretta will do nicely. To buy Italian excludes some fine guns: Browning, CZ, Ruger, SKB, etc. Try to define the primary use of the gun (a trap gun is quite different than quail gun) and an Italian gun is likely to be in the top 3 guns. good luck!

BENELLI, BERNARDELLI, BERETTA, ETC. are appreciated for their quality. The difficulty is in knowing how to choose the model best suited for you. It depends on what you want to "hunt" ... waterfowl, white tail, birds ... --- Very important is the "service" that you find in your area of residence. A gun, even the best, if not Carante good care, you better not buy it. ...IMHO
