Help guys out there: I bought a 20 Ithaca "Stake out" model 37 without a barrel. It has a nice rattail walnut fore end with loop, and a weird plastic pistol grip AND NO BARREL!!! I got is cheap($125) because it was a police 14" entry gun and the cops destroyed the barrel before sales. I CAN find new barrels for $115 up but I want a beater barrel to cut to 19" and put a giant glowing bead on! Question; are all these late model 37's 20 gauge 2 3/4", or did they make 3" (and is the stake out model 3"?)guns too? Any body got a crummy old Model 37 barrel 855,000 up serial # they want to sell reasonably or trade for most ANYTHING gun related? I have found a few nice wood stocks pretty cheap. I am looking to build the misses a combat shottie since some I sold hers to some priest

Want to refine my question: I found a NEW Ithaca model 87 barrel 25" Deer bore rifle sights 20 ga 3" for $120. I may cut it to 18 1/2" and remount the sight or I may keep as is, patterning will tell! My new question is the model 87 barrel is supposed to be interchangeable with high numbered Ithacha's like mine -right or wrong? Now that I have a 3" chamber I can fire 3" shells right or wrong? Will I need a different stock bolt to lose the pistol grip? I can get a Choate MK 5 stock with 11 3/4" LOP or a Walnut replace ment for $60. So lets see: $125 for gun+20 ship and $22 transfer fee + $120 for barrel + $10 ship + $60 for stock +$10 ship= $360 !!! Uh oh , I just got into a 20ga Deer slayer in pieces for what I could have bought complete! :what:
