Ithaca 900 trigger reset

I did something stupid. When disassembling my Ithaca 900, I didn't make sure that I had the safety on, and in removing the trigger assembly I "fired" it. Resetting the hammer is easy enough, but I seem to be missing something, since the trigger assembly won't go back in quite right. There is a small part, which I believe is called the "auto safety", that is protruding in such a way as to keep the assembly pushed slightly forward.

Can anyone offer any help on what I need to do, what I'm missing or just any hint that might get me on the right track?
