Ithaca M37 Birthday, etc ??

I just re-acquired an Ithaca M37 Featherlight that I purchased new back in the mid to late 60's. Over the years, I had loaned it out to family members and others and had lost track of the gun...hadn't seen it in many years and considered it lost. However, a family member unexpectedly returned it to me a few days ago and it appears to be in remarkably good condition. I'm elated to have it back and no more loan outs!

Could someone (Black Talon perhaps) help with the gun's mfg date. The serial number is: 776865-1. I believe the '1' denotes an 'Improved Cylinder'. Flying grouse etched in the receiver if that helps.

Also, would the barrel on this M37 be interchangeable?

Any info would be appreciated. BTW, this is a great forum.

Your gun was built in 1959 and the "-1" does mean that it was originally choked IC.

Also, would the barrel on this M37 be interchangeable?

Not without being fitted by a gunsmith.
