ithaca model 37 and slugs

I bought an Ithaca model 37 12 gauge from a friend. It is in perfect condition and I am getting mixed reviews about shooting slugs through the modified choke barrel that came with it.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer. Can this gun shoot slugs through its modified choke barrel.

I am relatively new to shotguns.

I edited the first post from model 38 to 37. The wine was flowing tonight and 38 was the result.
