The AR, cuz as we move forward closer to the '08 Presidental election
things may get tricky; especially if the DEMON's get elected~!
I agree with Ala Dan, and most everybody else. Get the AR right now and the EMP later. I have an EMP and they are great, you will love it, but it's time for an AR right now.

EMP, then sell the other guns you thought were good for carry and buy the AR. You will NEVER regret getting the EMP. It is fantastic. I have 9 handguns, and it is my favorite to shoot by far. Get the EMP.

AR...You already have carry pieces, you don't have any semi-auto's and they maybe tough to aquire in the future.

It's a no brainer.

This pretty much sums up my position. I hope you go with the AR. And as someone else said, use your rebate for the EMP. :)

Regardless of your choice, down the road at some point you will probably wish you had made the other choice.

I vote AR just because it is something new to you. You have handguns and bolt rifles. A SA rifle may be more fun than just another SA handgun. Or not. :)

"what would you do" isn't a great question" / Actually it is..timely for me as I find myself in somewhat of a simular situation. I have handguns only. Like yourself, I own a KAHR. Mine is a P9 and I like it it. Others are revolvers such as a classic S&W .357 Model 65-3 with 3" barrel. Arguably one of the finest combat side arms in the world. Various .38's and so on.

What I do not have is a rifle. I am in the market for a lightweight SA like a Ruger .223 "Rancher" Model which I've shot and really enjoy or anything else along those lines. Should the SHTF, I'd most certainly want that "format" available to me.

Were I you, Gideon, I'd go for the AR.

You should get an S&W Model 629 with the 5" barrel. No, wait...that's what I want to get. That's the problem with asking on the internet; everyone injects their own biases into the argument. The only advantage is you might hear a few pro/con suggestions that you hadn't thought of.

Personally, I find the EMP to be a slick, cool little pistol, but I am put off by the price. You'd think that Springfield would have made it a little more production-friendly (ie. cheaper) when they massaged the 1911 design, or maybe they're just milking the 1911 wave for all it's worth.

Either way, I'd get the Stag first, and see what happens with the EMP down the road.

Well the AR's have it. I've thought about trade in's so I could possibly swing both but I struggle with getting rid of any of mine. I thought I'd trade the Kahr P9 so I carried it today to think about it....it's a sweet gun and mine has the blackened slide with night sights.

I wonder if others struggle like this with decisions. It may be a symptom of being obcessive!

Well, I'm leaning towards the AR. I dont think the EMP will ever get much lower than $900+ and perhaps someone will eventually make flush fitting mag for it....

And I wonder if we'll ever see them BAN, as in "take away" AR type weapons in my lifetime! I can see how a democratic president could work to ban new sales of them but I do worry that one day they could go the next step. Oh well, not worth worrying about today! AR would be fun although ammo costs for .223 are sure up there!! I don't shoot my other .223 often so I did a check to see what they're charging for the stuff now and wow!!

Anyway, I get my check on Friday so I have until then to finally make up my mind!

God Bless & Thanks!
Gideon

+1 for the AR.

You'll be able to get an EMP after the AWB 2008

Even if you don't get the AR, I would strongly suggest you pick up about 20 mags if you intend to get one later. If not, you'll have trading fodder.
