Well I wanted to load some7. 62x39 for deer season, I've got plenty of brass thanks to loonwulf, but after a primer check I am down to about 150 large rifle primers. I've got a pound of cfe-blk and half a pound of bl-c-2, but I figured not to waste that either.
I picked up a box of brass case fmj boxer primed belom it's supposed to be ppu, sure looks like it. Only had enough money for 20 round box that day, 13.99 not to bad. I have about 90 speer 130 fn 308 bullets around so I figured why not just pull the fmj and use the speer bullets.

I pulled 5 to check the charge to my surprise they were all within a tenth of a grain charge weight. 24.8 grains checked my Lee diper set and with blc2 the powder in the belom looks very close. I tried about 10 scopes of the belom powder and they were right at 42.0, 1.6cc I figured that Will work.

I have to try these out and if they shoot good enough I'll try to get more of that ammo when I have the money.

I would work with the CFE BLK myself I use Accurate 1680 for this cartridge with 123gr bullets.
I still have Remington 7.62x39 small prime brass for times like these.
Vote like your freedom depends on it.

I figured to use the powder from the belom ammo, seems like decent powder to. I'll use the cef -blk when I have the proper bullets and all the brass is fireformed. I'd like some small rifle pocket brass, I have a bunch of cci #41s

I used to do this a lot with 7.62X54 steel cased surplus. I would measure the propellant and make them all the same. Then replace the FMJ with a JSP bullet the same weight. Good enough for a cheap hunting round out to 100 YDS for me. Good luck hunting!
I've done the same with Turkish 8mm (7.92x57mm), IMR 4064 and Speer 180gr. soft points back when factory 8mm was hard to get - like now. Winchester ran a bunch of 8mm brass one year (2003 or 04 maybe?) and I stocked up so I wouldn't have to do that again. The Turkish powder looked like it had salt flakes in it. Probably did! The primer is still corrosive which is fine - Sweet's takes care of that, and a good cleaning routine with 20:80/water:Ballistol.

I must've missed what you're shooting these out of.

Your plan is legit, though I think I would use the CFE-BLK. Reason is, it's likely that the powder in those is something like mil surplus out of the S&B powder plant in the Czech Republic. I think that's where most of the PPU powder comes from...there's nothing wrong with that powder at all, but it's likely not to be as consistent as the CFE-BLK, plus you'll have more tangible load data to work with. Also, if the PPU rounds happen to be crimped, make sure you recrimp with the new bullets after you pull the old, as pulling will possibly create a neck tension problem when you seat the new ones.

I'm sure your plan will give you solid "minute of deer" rounds at 100 yards though.

.308 bullets may respond differently out of a .310 barrel. Have you slugged the barrel yet?

I was always under the assumption that .308’s weren’t a good idea out of a 7.62x39 barrel….so correct me if I’m wrong.
My bore is about .310 it's very common to shoot 308s the cz all seem to only lose 50 fps at most. I could have probably keeped the full charge since the bullet is just smaller but the new one is a little heavier and looks like the 308 has a touch more bearing surface.

The powder looks like very good powder, lots of Graphite which is a good thing. Looks very consistent as well, I can't remember the powder manufacture used in this ammo but it's supposed to be one of the best around. None of the ppu I've used ever shot dirty or had any problems.

Good deal. That mini-Mauser action is superb! I've got one and it's a .308" bore. Evidently, that's real unusual. Maybe because it was an early made-for-US import.

I used to shoot .308 130 gr hornandy spritzer varmint bullets out of my norinco sks, was a long time ago early 90's. I never had a problem they shot about 2 moa at 100 open sight sitting or prone.
