After much delay, my Saiga has finally come to me! Muahahaha, it is most definitely an EBR. And I love it. It is exactly what I was hoping to get. It's compact and handles great. I have a small AK obsession and this feeds it quite well. The mount I got for it from East Coast Products also arrived today, so I'm hoping that I can get it to the range very soon and see what it will do.

Oh, I also purchased a 4-12x40 Bushnell (which I think might be a discontinued model) because I'm really curious as to what kind of accuracy this will pull off. Probably not much with me at the trigger...

I actually purchased it from a board member here, who worked hard to try and get it out as soon as he could, despite a lot of personal family difficulties. A very impressive guy. I'd post more about him, but I don't think he is much of a regular.

It also gave me a chance to deal with a new gunstore here that I really love, great people who are genuinely kind and don't look down their nose at you for any reason. I love giving them all the business I can. He even gave me a deal on ammo and, knowing I was looking for something cheap, actually suggested a cheaper model of a rifle case they had on return than the one I had picked. It's so pleasant dealing with good people.

Anyway, for those of you thinking of getting a Saiga, I can tell you the fit and finish are great. I expect the shooting to be just as good. A full range report will follow ASAP!

Good buy! What size bbl (16" or 22"). Wood or synthetic stock? Also any plans to convert it to pistol-grip configuration?
 
It's the 16" with synthetic furniture. I really like the handguard a lot, too.

I also have plans to convert it to pistol grip. It's not horrible the way it is, but the trigger would take some getting used to and it's just aesthetically more pleasing in PG form to me.

I will give a report of that too, whenever it ends up happening.

I also noticed today that it has a bolt hold open feature that you set manually. Pretty nice option for when youre at the range during a cease-fire.

A fellow at another forum is working hard on getting 20 rnd mags made, so that ought to be fun once they come along.

Oh, forgot to say the first time that I got it at a steal for just $200. Well worth it!
 
Yeah I've reserved a few of the 20-rounders a couple months back. I converted my 22" .308 and put a Drag stock on it. Also converted a 7.62x39 Saiga. I'm sure you've already seen this site:

The only differences with converting a .308 are that you don't need to install a feed ramp and there are no trigger pins to drive out. I was lazy when doing my conversions and didn't reinstall the BHO. U.S.-made hammers have to be ground down on one side a tiny bit to reinstall the BHO.

I never shot my .308 in stock form, but I felt the stock trigger is better than the stock trigger on the Saiga 7.62x39 even if the pull is upwards. By converting to pistol grip you really open up your options on triggers. You did indeed get a good deal on your .308.
