Let's start a depository thread where we can state we have done this. Not once, but we need ongoing effort. Weekly? Monthly? I'm not sure, but we have to be active. Heck, make it a sticky.

Anyway, "I'VE DONE IT." Check mark.

Letters sent by snail mail to all of my Federal and State representatives. Also donated to NRA-ILA.

The easy way to do this is go to the NRA-ILA web page and click on the "Write your representatives" link. Fill out your info and what you want to write in the body of your text and you can send them out as emails or print them on paper.

While you're on the NRA-ILA website, you can quickly and easily make a donation to help support our 2A rights.

I'm keeping pressure on Sen. Pryor (D) of AR, as he's one of the D's up for reelection in 2014 in what has essentially become a red state (Arkansas) and so is particularly vulnerable to pressure on this. My new Republican congressman (as of 2010), has been a little too cozy with the traditional Republican establishment in the house, but is probably on our side in this fight; he hears from me regularly also.

I've written several letters to my representatives and donated to the NRA-ILA fund. Donating again today.

Wrote both my current senators, my house rep, the senator of a former state of residence, and Boehner and have donated to NRA-ILA and will donate more as funds become available.

Called both senators' offices. Also called my state senator and state rep to thank them for their pro gun stand. Will call Boehner's office next! Plus signed up 5 people to the NRA. Time to keep the pressure on.

I contact my "Representatives" on a regular basis and a RARE reply usually gives me the idea that the said "Representative" is more concerned about His/Her political Career/Adgenda that about TRULY "representing" me.
It's ALL part of a big Governmental Lie!

I wrote them all and got 2 responses from Sen. Chambliss representing Georgia. I also joined the NRA for the first time in my life and made donations to GOA and Georgia Carry. I've never been very political but this all stinks and I'm not letting it happen without a FIGHT (metaphorically speaking of course):

"Thank you for writing me regarding the right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. Your taking the time to contact me is appreciated.

I have always been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, and I will continue to ensure the rights of gun owners will not be further infringed upon. We must make certain that the rights and freedoms of law-abiding citizens are not unfairly impeded. I believe that the ability of sportsmen, hunters, gun enthusiasts and citizens concerned with their personal safety to own a gun, whether for sport or protection, is clearly defined in the Constitution and must not be compromised.

In response to recent tragic and high-profile acts of violence, there is a renewed focus on government regulation of guns. It is likely that Congress will soon have an extensive and detailed conversation about all of the potential causes of these crimes, including mental health issues, depictions of violence in television, movies, and video games, and firearms.

I know that dialogue regarding acts of violence will likely result in a wide range of legislative proposals seeking to address the underlying causes. As these pieces of legislation come before me in the Senate, I will keep your thoughts in mind.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance to you in the future. In the meantime, if you would like to receive timely e-mail alerts regarding the latest congressional actions and my weekly e-newsletter, please sign up via my web site at: www.chambliss.senate.gov. "

"Thank you for contacting me regarding the reinstatement of the assault weapons ban. Your taking the time to contact me is appreciated.

As a parent and grandparent, there are no words to describe my grief at the senseless loss of life at Sandy Hook Elementary School. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Newtown, Connecticut community, and all of the victims, families, and loves ones of this horrible tragedy. I join the rest of the nation in offering my prayers to all of those impacted.

In response to this and other tragic and high-profile acts of violence, there is a renewed focus on this expired legal provision. I believe that Congress will have an extensive and detailed debate about all of the potential causes of these tragic crimes, including mental health issues, depictions of violence in television, movies, and video games, and firearms. Your comments are important, and I will remember them as the debate moves forward.

On September of 1994, Congress passed and President Clinton signed into law the "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act" (P.L. 103-322). This legislation prohibited the sale of certain semi-automatic weapons, often referred to as the assault weapons. On September 13, 2004 the ban expired.

I have always been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, and I will continue to ensure the rights of gun owners will not be further infringed upon. We must make certain that the rights and freedoms of law-abiding citizens are not infringed upon. I listen to Guntalk (Tom Greshem) now and he had a great challenge last week that I took accepted. Contact your 2 Senators and Representative for 8 weeks. I am doing a combination of the NRA form letters and my own letters, printing and mailing them as he indicates this will make a bigger impact.

I have also decided to send the email to the POTUS each week too... so far I have mailed out 6 letters and sent countless email. Cannot do this enough.

Michael Bane is recommending a similar strategy, and he also went on to mention how anti gun his senators are but contacts them just the same.

I remember there being ONE gun store in Saint Louis on south Kingshighway. And it sucked. I'm not sure how far you're gonna get. Maybe you're far enough in that "metro" realm your efforts can have some influence. Regardless of party affiliation, my representatives will support the 2nd Amendment. I support my state lobbying group, national lobbying groups, and political candidates. Good luck to everyone in getting their voice heard.

I think it's worth contacting them even if they are not sympathetic to our cause. Maybe if they see that a large section of their voter base feels this way they will be more likely to settle for "compromise" legislation if it comes to that instead of pushing for something way off the deep end.

The time is now folks. We have to be louder and stronger and more presistant than those in favor of these insane proposals by several orders of magnitude in order to be heard.

If you are finally getting around to contacting your politicians, I say good for you, but just contacting them 1 time is nothing to be bragging about or publicly patting yourself on the back for finally taking action.

Get involved at a grassroots level, search out local conservative groups or other groups who share your political and moral views and get involved. Make telephone calls, send faxes, send letters, send e-mail.

Get involved, contact your representatives every day if that is what it takes. Make your voice be heard, contacting your representatives 1 time is not enough.

I regularly write letter and email to my Senators and Congressmen.

I also regularly write letters and email to the local newspapers.

I also contribute to the NRA ILA as often as I can.

I write my local rep about 4x a year bitchin' about something, at least he answers..
twice last year I wrote the white house, no response either time :banghead:

Contacted mine. It's super easy using the NRA website. Based on your ZIP code it automatically pulls up a list of your representatives. Many of you probably already know that.

Got the following response from Senator Ron Johnson:

Dear Fred,

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your thoughts on federal gun control measures in light of the recent tragedy in Connecticut.

A terrible and incomprehensible act of violence took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We are all deeply impacted by the horror of little children and brave adults being murdered. There are many serious issues that will need to be discussed and considered in the weeks and months to come. But right now, our primary concern should be for the families and the community of Newtown.

At moments like this, America comes together to mourn and support one another. We will do so again in the coming days, and then search for answers on how to prevent such tragedies in the future

As your Senator, I believe it is my primary responsibility to uphold the Constitution and the Second Amendment is no exception. I will continue to strongly support our Second Amendment rights. One of the bills I have chosen to cosponsor regarding the Second Amendment is S. 570 introduced by Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) on March 14, 2011. This bill would prohibit the Department of Justice from tracking and cataloguing the purchases of multiple rifles and shotguns.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. It is important for me to hear the views and concerns of the people I serve. Please feel free to contact me in the future if I can further assist you or your family. It is an honor representing you and the good people of Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate.

Sincerely,

Ron Johnson
United States Senator

I've sent letters twice to Florida's reps, one to Boehner (can't hurt to encourage him not to let a vote ever happen), and got my wife to send some off to Florida reps as well.
