I'm shopping around for an AR-15. I looked at the S&W M&P 15 and the Bushmaster, I cann't make up my mind yet. I visited several websites that has articles abou both rifles, and both are fantastic.

Another question, When I purchased my gun and shot gun from the gun store, they make us fill out that sorry application to make sure that you have a clean record and stuff, if I purchase a gun online, am I going to fill out the application?? How does this work? I never purchase a gun online before.

Yes. You will need to find a nearby FFL who is willing to handle the transfer for you. The gun will be shipped to the FFL, who will have you fill out a Form 4473.

FFL?

I am not fimiliar with the FFL? is it a federal office, federal organizatin?

I think I will do it the old fashion way, I will go to the store and place an order for one. But I still have to decide betwen the two brands:

S&W vs. Bushmaster

Federal Firearms License - he will be the gun dealer at the gun shop. Talk to your dealer and ask him how much he charges for the transfer of a rifle. Around here Pawn Shops also have FFL dealers and charge less for a transfer than most gun shops. You will fill out the forms with the dealer just as if you are buying the gun from him. You will only be paying the FFL dealer for the transfer and any fees for the background check. You will not be paying sales tax on the transfered rifle.

I've gotten half of my guns "through FFL". You buy the gun online, you have them send it to a local gun store (FFL holder), and you go there to pick it up-- and you fill out the paperwork at the store.

As far as Bushmaster and S&W, both are top of the line. There is more of a selection when it comes to what Bushmaster offers, but everything in the S&W AR-15 line is tops. They are gonna be comparable for what you get for their cost.

I have first hand experience with Bushmaster and I can say that they are great, but I have only heard good things about the S&W.

Good luck!

Tough choice. Bushmaster makes nice stuff, but that S&W MP15 looks really nice too. I think you can choose from those based on which features you like better and which agrees with your budget.

Which model Bushmaster were you looking at?

Bushmaster Carbon 15 Model 4, this bad boy got to be owened by me:evil:

I want to thank everybody for the feed back. I think I'll be going with the S&W. Later on I'll try to get the AK-47.

AK-47 is one of the rifles I got to get. Is it possible to order this kind of rifle? Do I have to look for a used one or they come new?? I'm not sure if it's legal to have in the state of Calif. or Illinois.

As you can see from my quesions that I'm new to this. Since I was a little kid, I used to go out with my Dad and his buddies hunting. It was cool, it grew up with me , and my friend introduced me to the guns world. I have a .45 Calib. H&K pistol and a 12" 1300 Defender. I've got to add a rifle to this small collection.

My freind is going to Michigan this Nov. and he offered me to go with him to his uncles' place. He said we can go hunting over there. If we didn't make to Michiagn, there is always Wisconsin, it just two hours drive from where I live. I'm just tired from shooting paper targets. I should out my 12" to some real work.
