from gun stores, any of them! Today I needed to get out and get some fresh air, with the snow, cold this past 2 weeks, the walls were getting too close. When I walked into my friends place, his co-worker walked up, asked me if I still liked Smiths, he reaches under the counter and produced 2 zippered gun rugs, UH OH, I know this program. The first one he pulled out was a model #14, 6" .38 Spl, 98%, I about fell off the stool I was on… couldn't believe my luck. The second revolver he pulled out, a model #17 6" .22, 98-99% now I knew I wasn't anywhere near awake yet ! Both were on consignment, I told him to tell the guy I'd offer $XXX for the #14, 2 phone calls later, deal struck. I'm still not realizing this guys ! I came home, told the wife I'd bought a new revolver, also told her about the #17, .22 revolver. Hope you're sitting down, she told me to call the guy at the store, if they still had it, she'd get the monies by Tue., "I'll get that one for you too Honey." The #14 has been shot about 200 times, partridge front sight, target hammer and trigger, beautiful bluing, only Rt side at end of muzzle very slight wear. The #17, partridge front sight, oversized grips, target hammer and trigger, if shot at all, not much, cylinder face is pristine. This is day that I'll remember forever, unreal day for me.

USAF_Vet,
I've never known had to get pics on the website, if I could learn how, you'd be looking at them. Trust me, the deal was done.

Relax, it didn't really happen.

You were just dreaming, that's all. I mean come on, two of the best revolvers S&W ever made, and you're in the right place at the right time, and to top it all off your wife actually helps you get one of them.

Yeah, you're just dreaming.

Bannockburn,
Yeah, it happened alright. I went dwnstrs and cleaned it this morning, not bad shape, just needing to get some hands-on, making sure it was clean and everything checking out. No boogered up screws, don't think one has ever been touched. I went to see my buddy, took it along, he was totally dumbfounded when I handed it to him, "Where in the hell did you find a beauty like this?" When I told him I also had a # 17 I was picking up Tue., "My God, the Good Lord's smiling down on you for some reason, congratulations man."

Rush_Fan, you're absolutely right with that statement, best thing thats ever come along in my lifetime, Thanks !

KY Sparky, Thanks for the heads up, I'll have my wife see how this works, then we'll try to get some pics posted.

ITS HOME ! Brought the Model 14 home today, the shop was closed yesterday. Mighty fine hunk of iron, not a scratch on it, all screws un-boogerd up, smooth action, now, just waiting for day after tomorrow, then I can go to the range and try this beauty out ! I showed my buddy this piece, "How the hell does someone like you get such deals on these revolvers, I've looked all my life for a Model #14, they're just not out there, nothing like this happens around this place!? Anyway, my wife was very happy for me when I showed her, "I'm very happy for you sweetheart, you've earned it." Now if that don't beat all. lol:cool:

Congrats, 788Ham. For your new guns and your lovely wife! ;)

Range report soon, eh?

Hey Ham, good for you. But the wife thing may be something in the winter air. Mine just told me to go ahead and buy a Model 57 41 mag. You know she's not going to shoot that thing.

I about fell off my stool when she said that. I've wanted one for about 20 years and there was one at my LGS so it's mine now.

Congrates and I know you will take care of those fine old Smiths.

TT

Range Report : If the wind stays under 40 mph tomorrow, I'll be busting primers, might need a heavy coat with the chill factor, but I'' be there.

Tiger, I know what you've been through, looking until hope is almost gone, I've done the exact same thing for 30 years. Then BOOM, 2 salvos within 30 seconds, about more than this ol' heart could take, but now that I've cleaned them both, and they're in the safe, arrhythmia's have ceased. ;)
